And I thought this only happened in the cartoons.

My name is Paul, and I’m an audio snob.
by Paul Taylor on January 27, 2009 at 10:15 amI’ve been called an audio snob before, but trust me, there are people waaaaay worse than me. We’ve been watching Wall-E for a while now, after the first time we watched it, Eddie fell in love with it and likes watching it. Granted, we all love the movie, great story, great characters, absolutely adorable. But I couldn’t get over how flat the sound was. There was no impact when the rockets were thundering and Eve’s laser shots were anorexic. I just wrote this off that maybe the films makers didn’t want to scare kids and kept the audio stuff to a minimum.
However, just the other day, I realized that this DVD is in a short list of those annoying discs that have the 2 channel audio mix as the default! Thusly we’re being force fed the crappy Dolby surround mix. You have to work your way through those silly menus to switch the audio to the setting it should be at in the first place. Even if someone doesn’t have a 5 channel setup, the player will navigate this on its own and give you the stereo mix. It doesn’t do it in the reverse however.
Needless to say, watching it with the correct audio mix made a world of difference and was like watching a whole new movie. What the hell was DIsney thinking?!
Just had a daydream thought, Neil Gaiman lives up here in the Twin Cities. I wonder if he ever heard of my comic, and maybe doesn’t hate it if he has. Oh well, it’s just a daydream. ^_^
First of all, Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who commented earlier with positive well-wishes and to anyone who had my mom in they’re thought! Thank you! ^_^
As of now she was able to go back home and all seems to well. None of the tests came back with anything bad. She will be going back in early this next week for another test just to be safe, but otherwise she’s doing well. Needless to say, we were worried (yes, mom. Even you telling me not to worry doesn’t magically make me not worry ^_^) and I’m always going to be the worry-wort that I am no matter what. And yes, my mom reads my journal so if anyone wants to say howdy to her through here, please be my guest! ^_^
Again, thank all of you for ALL of your support!
EDIT: My mom just talked with me and wanted me to tell everyone "Thank you" on her behalf for all of the well-wishes! ^_^
