Amanda is a professional photographer and she believes that natural selection has been destroyed by society and thusly we are perpetuating a nation of idiots.

Yes, I agree with that concerning all of humanity. Our method of mating and reproduction can best be described as unnatural selection.

Oh there have been well over two such stories in the last fifty-nine years. It was a common theme in the earily 60′s.
Those two were the good two, though. And Kornbluth wrote them in the early ’50s, so it’s pretty clear that if they were a “common theme in the ’60s” it was a reaction to Kornbluth.
And now she is involved in the ‘crazy’ thanks to an impromptu dip in Lake Calhoun… hehe
Actually, I believe the idiots (natural selection – jocks & cheerlearders) breed like rabbits and the smart folk are lagging behind.

He is the protects Amanda and Monica from all things that go ‘bump’ on the television when they watch the ‘Ghost Hunter’ programmes and has a nifty way of removing Amandas unwanted paper.
It has been shown that the older the parents are when the start having children, the more intelligent the children are likely to be.
Or think about it this way, “kids raised by couple of teenagers” versus “kids raised by successful adults”.
