well, that’s what happens when the ink gets ripped out of you… (Good excuse, though.)

The tat is still there so she can get it re-inked. After what she just experienced, a tattoo parlor should be nothing.

She might get it re-inked, but I think the ink had mystical qualities to it.

Without those properties, it won’t work even if using mundane inks.

      That’s just my guess though.

      Still… I wonder how she’ll tan now. :D

I was not thinking about making her tat a mystical portal thingy, again, I was just thinking that it would look better if it was inked.

I think Mythbusters did an episode on the whole exploding tattoos things with high iron ink a few years back. As you would guess, nothing happened. So that myth is busted and sort of makes the excuse rather suspect but it’s comic book world logic. It flies for now.

I think she’s using it to explain/give an excuse for the missing ink so that Luci will buy it, not Shelly really believes that’s what happened.

I think Shelly, Paul, and most of us fans all saw that House episode with LL Cool J going into the MRI and thought of that as soon as their eyes met in the top panel. XD

I was wondering how that was going to be explained :)

and i soo cannot tell if she is being sarcastic with the ‘hardcore’ comment with those glasses. darn that girl has power :P

Yeah, me either. I want to think she is being sarcastic though. And I wonder if the inkless markings are permanent.

Some people go for scarification like that on purpose (some is done with incisions, some with an inkless tattoo needle). Those kinds of scars can fade over time but probably never completely.

Is Shelly still working at her dad’s garage in addition to the yoga studio? I remember she was doing some welding or cutting when Brandi came to discuss the calender with her.

Oh, man, no wonder Shelly said it felt like her whole front had been set on fire. Must have hurt like hell. Stupid me, I was thinking the tattoo was inked on, as body paint, not literally tattooed into the skin.
Does answer your question, Fairportfan, about Luci’s good opinion.
Alec C. – In a purely practical sense, either the tat scars fade, or Mr. Taylor is stuck with having to draw it on Shelly every time she shows skin!

Just caught up with Wapsi after 3 weeks in Australia – what a phenomenal ending to the mega-arc… Jin’s reunion with Mayahuel was heartbreakingly sweet.

Still not sure what all was happening… was the calendar machine itself the bad demon who needed to be punished? Not that it really matters, what an awesome story. Can’t wait for the next book. :D

No, Jin’s demon was the one that needed to be punished. She got sucked into the demon realm with the calendar machine, and Bud snuck in with her, yanked Mayahuel out through the tapestry, then closed the door by de-inking our Miss Wahnee.

The story will hold up as long as long as Luci doesn’t see the Mythbusters episode where they bust the myth that high iron content inks (even a custom Mythbuster’s blend of almost nothing but iron) can be ripped from the body by an MRI…

If Ertain is anything like me, it’s not that she didn’t know she’s ripped, but that it just kind of visually struck her just now. That happened to me the night she was imitating Tina offering to blow sunshine up her ass. :P Knowing and really noticing… often not taken in together.

I had been wondering how Luci was going to react, since she and Shelly weren’t exactly cozy to begin with. Hopefully this will help build a good work relationship between the two of them.

The electricity is back on in my town! Missing a day at the Square is harsh when you can’t get online. Shelly can always get re-inked with UV ink. It’ll light up when she goes out dancing, or cosmic bowling.

It will look cool at the clubs, and when tan, have a natural definition. Think she earned brownie points with Luci ?
