I think those 2 are everyone’s favorite couple in this strip. Probably because we see them so seldom that they have not been forced to lose their playful innocence to keep the plot going.
No floods. Tornados stayed in the fields and on the lake, not much damage. No late snowstorms. No drought. Plenty of draught. No heat wave; cooler than normal which makes it comfortable. No quakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, glaciers, or volcanic eruptions.
Considering the hellish weather and the land writhing in all corners of the globe of late, I’ve had a blessedly peaceful spring.

So they are dumping water continuously to keep all the reservoirs at minimum levels so they can fill and empty them and reduce the peak level. If the snow melts to quick we are in trouble, and if enough of it doesn’t melt before winter we could still be in a drought situation.
It all depends on the source of water to what the “right” type of rain is:
If you are taking water from underground aquifers you need light rain/drizzle (and lots of it). Aquifers are filled as the water perculates through the soil. Once the soil is waterlogged, the soil can’t absorb any more water so it just runs off.
If you are taking water from reservoirs, then heavy rain is best because reserviors are filled by run off.
Some parts of Britain rely on reservoirs and others on aquifers.
Given that one of the trends of Global Warming is for rain to be heavier when it does happen, I suspect that you live in an area that relies a lot on aquifers.

On the one hand, the idea of them getting married makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.
On the other hand, the idea of them getting married and not sending Shelly an invite makes me very very sad. I know O&L aren’t caught up in the supernatural weirdness that the rest of the cast is these days, but I’d hope that Owen and Shelly haven’t cut ties that thoroughly.

As a guy, I can imagine that boy-trunks are somewhat more comfortable than bikini-bottoms. Those tiiiiny panties look like they crawl up ones’ cr..k constantly..ugh!
Never mind “the kid”… when I first saw this, I thought that was Monica hosing Shelley! Of course, I do look at a character’s face to identify them primarily, so certain attributes of M’s body were not immediately missed…
Having said that, I would not have picked that to be Owen and Lakshmi. Not that I object to them — like many other people here, they are one of my favourite couples in the strip and I’d like to see more of them — but this particular picture looks, to my eye, very different from the way they were drawn when we last saw them (six years ago!). Lakshmi wasn’t that muscular, particularly in the upper arms (she wasn’t scrawny, but she didn’t have the same sort of pronounced muscle development as Shelley), and Owen wasn’t as baby-faced as he looks here. It’s interesting to compare him in his last appearance (18-2-05) to this pic and see the similarities and differences in his face.
Ah, well, at least they’re still together and having fun. Wonder what the broken bed count is by now…
I guess Lakshmi has the same myocin deficiency Shelly does. Would be interesting if she has Sphinx in her ancestry – but doesn’t seem to have the ‘guardian’ personality; more the bubbly doaffodil kind. (But I think she’s from India, but that’s not established.)
Hmmm..given the interludes, me thinks Pablo is cooking-up, pasting and editing another book. The Shelly-Heather pic is too good an opportunity for an end-page, to let that slip.
