The Wapsi Girl

As a lifelong tomboy/cowgirl type I’ve always struggled with what it
means to be pretty. Growing up I was more comfortable on the back of a
horse, wearing dirty jeans and a baseball cap than I ever was at the
mall wearing whatever was fashionable at the moment. Boys seemed to
overlook me. Girls rarely understood me. Horses however, loved and
accepted me no matter what I had on, no matter how cute I did or
didn’t look. As I grew up and my own identity began to take shape, it
became more and more clear to me that the lesson I learned from horses
was that if you are patient, confident and kind, you will have a
friend for life in horses and humans. When I became an actress my
ideas about what is truly beautiful began to form as well. The most
attractive people I know are the people that make me laugh. Now that
more of my time is spent in front of a camera than on the back of a
horse, I remember that a sense of humor, patience, kindness and
confidence are the most beautiful traits any Wapsi girl could have.
