A while ago Paul asked me to write about what I thought a Wapsi Girl was. Quickly I wrote about being strong. The piece was tough with an under current of attitude.
I thought I was sooooo clever.
A couple of months ago Paul asked if he could still post my piece. It had been almost a year since I had written it. A year that had been rough on me. A year that had changed me. A year that had shown me that my strength actually hurt me. As I read over my past writing I realized what it really was to be a Wapsi girl.
It means to always be learning.
Each girl on the Wapsi strip at one point thinks they have everything figured out, but they all quickly discover that their path isn’t a paved road, it’s a river. Life is not set in stone, it’ s constantly flowing.
This year has shown me that strength can be a weakness if you keep yourself closed to actually learning, growing from your experiences.
So like the Wapsi characters I stand today ready to learn and I plan on learning for the rest of my life.
