Indeed – how does he do that?

With the thumbs he supposedly doesn’t have.

He’s clearly a short haired anthropomorphic terrier. Saw one at Westminter last year.

He’s been drawn with opposable thumbs and stubby fingers several times.

Better question would be: How does he do pretty much anything we’ve seen him do throughout the course of the comic so far?

        He’s a very smart dog… 😉

It’s not that hard. I can unlock and open most doors with my foot.

      Friction, man, friction.

A lever handle on the interior instead of a knob? That would let him just lean on it, pushing it down…I don’t know how he would actually open it in though….lol

I once had a dog who taught herself how to do that… and all of the interior doors except for the ones on the bathrooms had lever handles. Guess which two rooms were the only ones we could keep her out of. 🙂

I had a cat that could open any door that had a lever handle. And did many times.

Cats manage both latches and doorknobs.

What’s more interesting is how he drinks through that straw. ^_^

teeths can be used for many things, open doors is one of them

I seen dog turn knobs by jumping on them and pawing them. Hitting the lock wouldn’t be that hard but opening it would be a little more difficult, though my front dor naturally opens a tad, and with a little wind.

I’m actually glad my dog does’t do that, or she might get curious about what’s out the front door–the unfenced side. 🙂

I’m still waiting to see how Dietzel fits into all this- clearly he’s more than an ordinary dog. Maybe he’s another golem, or a Timekeeper in deep cover?

And even at THIS date, still haven’t gotten an answer to the question…

but multiple levels to the question have been added.

When I was a kid I had a collie who would leave the back yard at will. We tried tying the gate shut, wires, finally had to get a lock…
I swore that dog could beat me at chess.

“How does he do that without any thumbs” is EXACTLY ‘What.She.Said’
