Well, part of the reason she could take Atsali in her “final form” is that indestructibility. I mean, for all her seeming as a teenage girl, she’s literally a tiny outgrowth of the entity that keeps the multiverse separated into discrete universes. If the *sun* suddenly came alive and specifically attacked her, she could take it out.
She’s hinting at it here, ain’t she?
There’s no need to scare Rosslyn with being too specific.
“Don’t worry I’ve seen worse” is just the right message here.
I can see why she might not want to draw attention to the fact she would be classified as “outer god” in Call of Cthulhu terms. Never mind that she can and has actually called Cthulhu.
I think the brambles have biological function or emulate biological function. Castela was initially a seperate entity made of Blackthorn samples and human DNA. That means the Blackthorn’s extrusion in our dimension can be manipulated, at least with the Blackthorn’s consent.
Castela was also an independant entity prior to the merge and expected the Blackthorn to take over. She didn’t expect being the dominant personality after the merge.
Rosalyn refers to the Tail as an extension of herself, while Castela refers to it in the third person- as if it *is* a third person in fact, with its own name and personality. Whether that’s anthropomorphism or depersonalization I’m not sure, and whether that’s in Castela’s head or Paul’s…
I would say Cas does in fact explain it, when saying why she isn’t scared of Rosslyn’s tail: It is a part of Rosslyn’s brain, but a largely subconscious part – and it’s not unusual to refer to subconscious impulses as kind of a separate entity (‘that’s your insecurity speaking there’ and the like)
What about Castela’s indestructability?

Agreed.

Happy tail!

Ah, he’s all right
When he gets drunk
He fights all night
“A couple of sounds that I really like are the sounds of a switchblade and a motorbike…”
Does Rosslyn know what Castela is? I don’t think a mass of brambles and vines tightly knit to emulate a human body can be choked.
And the brambles themselves are not mere vegetable matter.
I suspect it all boils down to needing a frame of reference for us mortals.

They are both adorable beyond belief!
Well, bad-thing-attached-to-ass, at least.
The cast list for this page says Rosslyn and Castela. Shouldn’t that be Rosslyn and Atsali, or do have the characters mixed up.
You are just a little mixed up. Atsali is Cas’ big sister.
Yes, you have the characters mixed up – that’s definitely Castela.
First panel: Castela on the left, Roslyn on the right.
Whoa! I think that showing you switchblade is a 3rd dating thing. Slow down Cass!

Except that in this universe, your insecurity can actually be sapiant and independant.
Also Castela knows a lot about having body parts being semi-autonomous. Most of her being is.
It’s the same way Castela referred to Atsali’s tail: Cutie Tail. “Crisis averted, mama.” (IIRC)
Ok, now that we know that devil gals are a bit like stingrays, we know their group nick-name: “Barb”.
It sounds to me as if a visit with Leucoisa in the simulation chamber is in the works?
Or Luci may be comming up. Would be nice to see her after the three year jump. Wonder if we will see how her relationship with Shelly has changed.
Seven hours later…
Seems like the Stabby Spike is new to poor ‘Lyn
