It’s possible, but if she were more analytical she might be afraid of giving herself away by portal fringe effects or be rendered helpless by the need for transition.
Yeah, you’re right. I’m of the older generation, where an alarm clock was an alarm clock, a phone was a phone, and never the twain shall meet—‘cept maybe a wakeup call.
She really likes scaring herself doesn’t she? I once had an acquaintance like that – insisted on going on all the scary rides, watching all the scary films etc. I decided eventually that she did for an excuse to grab me and that she secretly enjoyed being scared.
One is a natural response to an unknown and potentially life-threatening situation.
The other is apprehension of the uncertainty in an artificial, yet safe (except when the ride breaks down!) situation.
The song is coming from up the stairs, where Castela has just come from, so I’m assuming it’s an alarm ringtone on her phone, which she’s left upstairs, and whatever’s been making the sound downstairs is unrelated. Of course, all her attempts to be all silent and stealthy are now totally ruined.
