im suprised shelly doesnt get hit on by customers at her dads garage.
i would imagine knowing her way round an engine would make most guys fantasys come true.
Perhaps that, or maybe the customers just think of her as “one of the guys” precisely because of how strong & mechanically-inclined she is.
Or (and this is somewhat less likely, but not impossible) maybe her dad has put the word out that any guy who hits on his “little girl” will have the tar beaten out of him.
More likely, they are uncomfortable or not interested. Most car-oriented men that I have met don’t have an interest in women who know more about cars than they do, and the guys who don’t care about cars tend to be the guys who won’t hit on their mechanic, or salesperson, or wait staff, &c..
This is all anecdotal evidence with no science or math to back it up.
“Don’t mess with the boss’s daughter” is kind of universally understood without Dad needing to say anything.
Lots of risks, and the possible benefits aren’t really any greater than with any number of other women out there who AREN’T the apple of the eye of the man who can fire you on a whim.
I actually, agree with what Kevin said, a lot of Gear heads don’t like a girly that likes cars. They want a bimbo, pure and simple. Also, to see her total a car just by sitting on it would also scare them.

or does her strength intimidate them perhaps?

“Don’t mess with your mechanics daughter, because he is the one adjusting your brakes…”
@Hinoron Ah, yes. American job “security”.
I’ll vote for “A WORD from Dad’..

her ‘ability’ to do that doesn’t come into play for a couple hundred strips…
well after her ‘relationship issues’ are ironed out.
