Yeah, he can’t seriously have thought that was going to work.
If it bends to be put into position, it can come out of that careful positioning just as easily.
Speakers are pretty much empty wooden boxes. Even on giant bass drivers, the magnets aren’t THAT big and heavy.
Given how heavy other pieces of furniture that size are when empty, I just don’t buy this. Two people lifting from the bottom ought to be able to get the edge on the stage, lift the bottom, and then slide it along its side.
That’s not a speaker, that’s a 5 foot bass amp that Shelly built (based on one that a friend built) using 2 TC Sounds Pro 5100 18″ Neo Subwoofer Drivers. They weigh 55 pounds each. The cabinet was built out of 1″ mdf and the baffle was doubled up. Then there’s the weight of the electronics. You do the math. 😉
Well, I guess that answers my question from a couple of pages back. So we’re talking, what, maybe 200lbs? 250 being generous? I still think two people should be able to lift that, especially given that one of them is Shelly.
But Shelly doesn’t want to show off just how strong she is. She’s afraid that would make Owen even less likely to see her as girlfriend material. Face it, a lot of guys wouldn’t want to have a GF who can hump the entire buss on stage to make it easier to set up the gear…
Yes but Sisyphus was the one punished to push the large Boulder up to the top of the hill, but it slips out of his control every time it gets close so he can’t complete his task.
Nice reference to the Greek myth comparing Euclid and Sisyphus.
How’d you like to lift a Peavey R96MTA on your back? (been there, done that) Just the units ALONE were the 122lb megatowers used at a Deep Purple concert back in 84′ Shelly would REALLY be impressed then!

See, that could have all been explained in the comic with a nice backstory a la “Chekov’s Gun”. But NooOoOoo. *pbbt*

i think he’s more sisyphus than euclid, or maybe a mix of both
Euclid is the father of geometry, which he just referenced then failed.
