There’s Shelly’s last name again. Someone tell me it’s not pronounced “whiney”? lol
It’s the name of one of the Comanche code talkers from WWII.
I thought those were Navaho?
According to Wikipedia, code talkers were Navajo, Comanche, Cherokee, Choctaw, Lakota, Mohawk, Hopi, and others.
They just had to know the Navajo language. Not really any different from a French person being able to speak English.
@ Seanette I can’t help but notice you did not include Wahnee in your list.
I suspect there were several different languages used, Greywolf. Only the Navajo codetalkers used Navajo. The Lakotas used Lakota, Comanche used Comanche, etc.
