The answer to all questions, Phix, is “It’s a learning experience.”

The library is letting them do it because it thinks it’s funny

It’s probably really boring being a library. I can’t say I blame it.

I’ll lay odds that the library is playing along with them, what with the cannons actually appearing

Poor Phix. The Library is getting SUCH a kick out of this, both their badly-but-with-enthusiasm re-enacting AND her obvious discomfort…

Hey, this never happened in the novels! Ladies, I’m afraid your sea-battle is…

    (puts on sunglasses)

    …non-canonical.

They’re doing the movie, Master and Commander, AND they’re doing it excellently well! Crowe and Bettany ain’t in it! (Except for panel 2 — Bettany is an excellent actor, but I doubt he could work his pelvis like that….

@Dean: ok, I did see what you did there. How many lashes in the RN for puns like dat?

Did anyone notice that Nudge’s cannon went from a 16 lb muzzle loader to a 10 inch Cannon

If I was a sentient library, and spent who knows how many centuries in relative silence, when all this wondrous imagination was going on around me, then one day these kids start cos playing………. I’d pull out all the cannons!!

And the cannons keep getting larger and larger!

O’Brian just xeroxed Lord Cochrane’s autobiography for a lot of the naval action and went from there so the gals using his novels and embellishing is fine.

I’ve never read the story they’re acting out. So I’m feeling kind of dumb.

I loved this book series. It was difficult as hell to get through the technical aspects, not being familiar with most of the terminology, but the characters were phenomenal. I am very much like Jack Aubrey in a lot of respects…

And I love how conscience is playing Maturin to Shelley’s Aubrey. Too perfect! I wonder of Shelley will utter one of Aubrey’s mixed clichés…

And make sure not to give Maturin any of his laudanum tincture for the pain…Patrick has been diluting it!

I think the Library is working on getting Phix to lighten up 🙂

If I remember correctly, I believe that Phix is serving the library as a form of penance. I think this might be part of her punishment 😉

Phix’s punishment time is over. She’s splitting her library time with Nudge, now.

…in addition to the SPLITTING headache she’s getting from all this lunacy now! 😉
