So, they really seek oblivion or forgetfullness more than death.

It may not give them much, as we dont know if they actually get all they wish for. But as “she” said: it’s the CLOSEST thing they have to mortality.
It sounds like a “reincarnation model” mortality. You die only to live again from a fresh start. The soul remains but it’s a different person.
