Now all that’s left is for you to find out how Shelly knew it as well.

I think Shelly just knows Monica so well that she can read her.

Or her near-death vision quest gave her the ability to unconsciously see auras and read people without actually knowing she can (which would totally fit with the rest of the crazy stuff that happens in this webcomic).

Or it’s just something that women can see in each other…

Or Shelly, being mostly human – more so than Tina at any rate – learned to read all those pesky, minor human details in her life up to now.

Love this – seeing Tina a bit flummoxed for a change 😉

Yes, it is a nice reversal of fortunes.

I wish I knew somebody who could read auras, preferably a girlfriend, but that’s just ’cause I want one so bad. But yeah. Having someone who could read auras would be awesome. In fact, I wish I could do it

Train a what? A luchador? Aren’t those the mexican masked wrestler types? Can you actually do that? I don’t think you can. Nor do I think it has any bearing on what was said =)

Ah, but you couldn’t ever lie to someone like that.
I’m not talking big, terrible lies like “No, i didn’t cheat on you with your sister.”
I just mean little, day-to-day things that happen with people you live with.
“Did you eat the last pudding cup?” “Uh… no?” “LIAR! I was saving that!”

Seems like it would needle your relationship to death bit by bit.

It depends. I have more trouble telling people I need help and someone who can tell is a boon. Also, a person who read auras like that or is just practiced at reading lies doesn’t point out every lie they see. Tina is savvy enough to not tell people what to do, instead guiding them to make their own decisions after reflection.

It depends on what the aura reader does with the knowledge gained. I suspect that many of the piddling, daily lies are not that opaque; we just accept them as social kindness or whatever rather than pressing the point.
