I find it helps to remember that some of the “commercial” features have been associated with the holiday a centuries longer than Christ has. (Specifically, “Santa”).
St. Nikolas of Mira was actually his name, and he had a feast day in December, and traditions of gift giving, BEFORE it was decided by civic compromise to mark the birth of Christ on the existing (and very popular) pagan holiday of Yule/winter solstice.
Well she WAS, but then one year there was a pretty wild party with the cornhusk Shepherds, with a lot of over-spiked eggnog… Look, it’s not like she “lost” anything! She just “gained an experience”!

Actually, Santa Claus = Sinter Klaas = Saint Nicholas, a Christian saint from the fourth century AD.
