So, any bets on which is going to happen first, the stabbing, or the shooting? Maybe Brandi should have written in something about not leaving Monica in the dark; you know, to stop her from freaking out, and pulling out her gun.
On the contrary… her notes said specifically to *keep* Monica in the dark. I don’t understand it, but apparently Monica’s freakout is necessary for this to work.
On a possibly related note, it looks like Monica’s figured out the face-glow!
Hmmm… perhaps the sacrifice isn’t needed, just something like this to trigger her light ability? Bud did say she wasn’t the answer they thought she was, right?
Aha, I get it now. They don’t actually need to stab Monica at all. They just needed her to freak out to trigger her eye lights, similar to this. At least that’s what I hope it is.
…Shelly stabs Monica, Monica focuses on the pain, Shelly “fixes” the broken cog by essentially using her demons as an “access port” to the machine, they all poit out of there and take M to the hospital with what (hopefully) ends up to be just a “flesh wound”.
Love this story arc… it’s fun to see it (maybe) coming to a conclusion! Just a suggestion: next time you do a redesign of your website, could you put the “next” and “previous” buttons ABOVE the comic so that people who miss a few days don’t have to see every single comic as they scroll down to the buttons?
Take a look up at the top of the title bar. Two little buttons, “forward” and “back” (if you’re not on today’s comic). Right next to the RSS feed button.
If she ends up NOT being stabbed… my guess is that they were all to THINK they needed to so as to create that aura of something “off” and get poor Monica all paranoid (which wasn’t hard to do it seems) and cause this reaction. It’s how she got to the emotional state in which she needed to use her eyelights.
And if they were knowing to just ACT suspicious, it might not be enough… they needed to believe they really needed to do it…
And may still end up doing it.
Which would be as depressing as that time in that one movie where the cop killed the dude because he thought he was reaching for a gun when he was just pulling out some little statue (like the one in the cop’s car) to say “Hey, I got one too.”
…. Or maybe stabbing her needs to be done to get her to use her eyelights… and in that moment …. before she dies … -sniff- the last light needed does what it needs to do…
Ah, there it is. I knew one of her demons was ‘un-hot”, guess that’s the one. I mean, hanging chin flesh is cool if that’s what you’re into, just I’m not that into it.
Now, does anyone else have “Turn on your facelight” by Neil Diamond running through their heads? Ah, you didn’t before you read this, but I bet ya do now, heh.
Unless you’re reading Waspi Square and referring to Monica’s Facelight, they yeah. And if Neil read this, he’d change the song, or his demons would give him no peace.
Arg!!! I almost feel like leaving this comic for a month… then coming back and reading it all at once. The tension is killing me 🙂 I won’t, but it almost want to… cya tomorrow.
Monica gets stabbed, the demons flee her and the machine gets fixed, in the course of which it briefly resets to a point just before the stabbing, so unstabbed Monica and the others go ahead with the new timeline.
Or maybe not.
BTW, if the gun figured in the previous timelines, did Brandi have the presence of mind to secretly unload it the night before, like Blondie did to Tuco?
Well, I apologize. Apparently I was wrong in that those pieces off the top of it ARE “solid” and not simply a simulated energy. As to their purpose, I am unsure now. Also, if viewed from the right angle they look like they’d form a circle if that means anything. And speaking of “solid” it seems the calendar machine isn’t completely solid… And also, it looks like that thing under it is a gear or cog. What if the REAL calendar machine is BELOW them and that is really just a holographical display?
Ruh roh.
It’s going down!
So, any bets on which is going to happen first, the stabbing, or the shooting? Maybe Brandi should have written in something about not leaving Monica in the dark; you know, to stop her from freaking out, and pulling out her gun.
Shit I’d like you to meet fan.
No need for introductions. I believe they’ve already met.

Waitaminute… keep her in the dark? Turn that facelight off, NOW!
Oh, there’s that facelight. Is it time yet?
Yikes. Oh. Eep. Yikes. Wow.
Hmmm… perhaps the sacrifice isn’t needed, just something like this to trigger her light ability? Bud did say she wasn’t the answer they thought she was, right?
The eyes/face/something light does imply that, but I seriously doubt it’s that easy.
Monica’s scowl has a particular, um, contrast to it, showing through the facelight.
FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU…..
This is burning me up like acid reflux! I can’t wait to see how this turns out!

the facelight is triggered by strong emotions. anger is the strongest. I forsee shelly having to hold a pissed off monica and using the doll for her.
Lights! Chimera!! ACTION!!!
augh! *slaps*
Tengu! Tengu berry mush!
Aside from her best friend, who does Monica think shooting is going to affect?

Aren’t there buttons in the top control bar?
As you said. They’re the little glyphs.
Take a look up at the top of the title bar. Two little buttons, “forward” and “back” (if you’re not on today’s comic). Right next to the RSS feed button.
I’m a little concerned that only two people there might have to worry about a bullet wound, and one of them brought a knife to a gunfight…
Oh boy, MAYHEM!
Let’s hope M’s demons don’t cut loose and muck up this whole attempt….looks like they’re already trying.
Aaaahhhhh…

What happened to the bowling ball thing?
Yeah, where IS that bowling ball thing? Was it just another of many red herrings like Shelly’s hammer?
I believe the hammer will be used — someone told Shelly to get it ready.

First time I saw the term, thank you very little :^P
NO MORE NEIL DIAMOND JOKES! Or Dietzel will bite you.
>>”Ah, you didn’t before you read this,
>>but I bet ya do now, heh.”
Oh you bastard… >_<
And it's Heart light. *harrumphs*
Unless you’re reading Waspi Square and referring to Monica’s Facelight, they yeah. And if Neil read this, he’d change the song, or his demons would give him no peace.
Bastard? Yeah, and then some, heh.

I’ve got this picture in my head of Shelly’s little demon girl popping out going “Hey, dumbass!” then jumping Doubt for a knockdown.
Cool angle on the Calendar Machine and the whole room.
Was this what Brandi planned in her notes? Can’t wait to see the next few days. Talk about a nail-biting week for Wapsi Square!!
Why do the words “expendable tool” send a chill down my spine?
Yeow! Like Bette says, “Fasten your seatbelts. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.”
Turns out it’s exactly like Bette says, lol.
I don’t suppose anyone here is a Doctor Who fan as well. Because it is also climaxing in a freaking huge way. That’s some crazy timing.
Could Shelly see Monica’s demons here…?
