The commenters are probably a very small percentage of Wapsi readers. In my case, I wax philosophical in comments because I feel the need to analyze the plot and delight in picking out the pieces checked out from Checkov’s Armory. I’m like that with TV shows as well, even though there aren’t many “serial” series anymore. (A “serial” series has a plot line that follows through entire seasons or the entire run of the show, where an “episodic” series is more “gag-a-day”)
Self-discovery for the purpose of picking your surroundings, takes time and one step at a time. She is sure of the lamp, and it’s best to go slow when one has no experience at figuring out what you want to surround yourself with. Shopping a bigger task than this one has experience with.

Also remember, her darkest and most horrible memories are of being a helpless child in a dark hole.
