As if Digit hasn’t had years to watch from a convenient wall or ceiling. Pretty sure her curiosity is quite more than sated … at least, as far as being an observer goes.
Would be fun to see the look on Monica’s face at the moment she realizes that. 😆
worse the few people digit has seen in the library demonstrating (more or less) human mating ritutals… are people she knows and who digit is likely to meet.
Welllll, y’know, the definition of “people” casts this assumption into the very jaws of Rule #34. Libraries are one of the best places, and The Library has magical holo-suites. So, gonna have to, respectfully, disagree here.
Yeah, we monkeys are big on social rituals, and this is also kind of a scent-marking thing. Symbolically sharing flesh, intermixing identity signals within the group, demonstrating alliance to anyone watching… it’s got a lot of baggage for something so simple.
I’d love to introduce her to Kelu (Far to the North) – “Sundahl” sounds Finnish to me, the design of Kelu’s clothing and milieu seems to have a strong Finnish influence – and Kelu has scars on HER knuckles.
Of course, Kelu and her family seem to have some jotun blood – she’s something like seven feet tall.
And she got her knuckle scars punching out a dragon…
In response to fairportfan, if anyone is interested in a Nordic, post-apocalyptic webcomic, I’d be remiss in not pointing out Stand Still. Stay Silent. It’s got trolls, shamans, dreamwalking, nail-biting fight sequences, all sorts of stuff the typical Wapsi fan should find amazing (especially the art). A good bit less silly humor, but not without comedic breaks from being hunted by some very nightmarish trolls and a super-plague that wiped out the world.
My take on Far to the North is that it’s ‘strongly based upon Finnish mythology,’ but it seems mixed with Nordic & Baltic themes in general. The clothing style and tribal-like patterns used do appear strongly Finnish, but also the sort of thing you would see in Estonia and Latvia. I think it’s a bit early in the storyline to pigeon-hole it into a specific culture. The take on dragonlore & goblins is pretty fascinating.
Interesting observation: dragons are nearly the only mythological creature that haven’t shown up in the Wapsiverse. What’s with that?
Digit has been speaking English (with a humanoid mouth) for only a short time, it’s nice to see some people in comics speak like ‘real’ people do, grammar errors and accents included
Digit: “I am not used to having a squishably soft body. I used to have an exoskeleton. If you compressed me this much then, it would have been the equivalent of breaking my bones. It’s rather disconcerting. I guess for you it might be like if someone squeezed your head until it was two inches wide, but then despite what all your survival instincts told you, you were perfectly fine.”
Georgette. “Hugging, dear. We call this hugging!”
Now, THAT should be an interesting conversation. Telling Digit about the birds and the bees, when Digit’s more likely to have eaten the latter. 🙂
“His male parts are down where his spinerettes should be. No, wait, that’s not the weirdest thing…”
His pedipalps, well, he only has one. It’s really short and it goes inside.

Surely people don’t have sex in the Library.
” people don’t have sex in the Library ”

And, stop calling me Shirley! 😀
Yeah, you look more like a ‘Sheryl’ to me 😛
What’s crazy is that there are some spiders who have eaten the former as well!
That is a really way to put it, jette!!
Weird, even
Thanks Lee, I just spit my coffee out. Lol
OMG I love Georgette. … I can’t believe I just said OMG. OMG.
F*ck.
Joe-Jette!!!

So why are some of us so uncomfortable with the whole thing?
Biological systems are always susceptible to glitches.
I’m glad to see Georgette, her absence thus far had me a bit worried that there’d been an off-camera breakup.
Me too, although I don’t remember her being a Blonde…
I think the scribbles are meant to convey a chestnut or medium hair color. Can’t remember what her hair looks like in cull color mode offhand.
Uncoloured or unshaded hair is not “blonde” to Paul.
Georgette, that’s just… c’mon give the kid some time to figure stuff out. ~<3
I hope her sister isn’t overextending herself. It’s difficult to run more than one of any business…you can’t be around as much as you’d like.
That’s why you have managers to handle most of the day-to-day business
… Is it just a quirk of shading… or are Georgette’s knuckles bruised?
I think that’s too definite for shading . . .
There was a strip that mention she had been a pub brawler under the wing of her grandfather.

Punching a dragon.
Do NOT mess with Kelu’s siblings and nepoti.

Now being (roughly) a humanoid yourself, Digit; you’re getting to know the other side of how the ‘giant apes’ live…
“Went well”

So I’m not the only one who noticed that…
Wait, wasn’t Jet the one who freaked out when Digit was first brought home from The Library?
I don’t recall such… but i could be wrong.
Jet isn’t Monica’s girlfriend now? o_O
Good GRIEF, ‘Jette!
