in the “enterprise” series (depicting the first federation starship enterprise), and episode revealed the ‘slave girls’ were actually the ‘slavers’ because their pheromones basically made any humanoid males (including Vulcans and Klingons) obey the ‘slave girl’.
Thankfully, that wasn’t accepted as canon by any movies/series afterwards.
There are two primary races of Orions, the Ruddy & the Green. The Ruddies have most of the social & legal power but the Green slavery is more of a legal institution in which Green slavery is by actual contract of employment…Most of the time though, the contracts are pretty specific about what can & cannot be allowed between master & Slave. Indeed, the Green slaves can actually earn a steady income & even “buy back” their contract…Given enough earned income, a slave could actually retire as a free citizen.
At least, that’s how it was described by the FASA 1st edition Star Trek RPG game, long before there were any “resets” to the “canon” information…
@Val- it was cannon in the books (The IDIC Epidemic) LONG before Enterprise aired (by over a decade). It isn’t that it hasn’t been cannon since, rather it hasn’t been addressed since.
If you want to see another novel that presents this view of Orion women, check out “The Final Reflection”. It also has my favorite depiction of Klingon culture.
That’s probably a sci-fi reference, I just know it.
Classic Star Trek originally (The Cage – original pilot and The Glass Menagerie) and numerous references throughout the rest of Star Trek.
Yep Orion’s are the common ‘Green’ human-like aliens in Star Trek, hence the reference
Indeed – like so;

orion slave girls, for those who dont know, are the green alien hotties that kirk kept banging
Frankly I think we should call it Kirking rather than banging

please, Please, PLEASE let that be her next Halloween costume!
Bud is enough of a nerd to know what an Orion slave girl is. Her hotness just increased exponentially in my books. 🙂
…I love Bud.
