What, besides Monica’s own Doubt, says that the blade is in her skull anymore? She’s a doorway, it was a key. I say the blade is somewhere in between the Wapsiverse and the Demon Realm, plugging up the release valve, so to speak. It’s in an odd quantum state of existence, not quite in either world.
The look on M’s face today and Friday is just priceless!
And Brandi, I know the answer to that que-sti-onnnn (sing-songy voice)…
Still, we’ve got a lot of questions still left out there. Not the least of which is, why didn’t M’s Doubt get sucked in? And, of course, what’s in those shorthand notebooks of Tina’s that Monica never seemed to find the time to read over? (Or is that a McGuffin?)
SQUEE! Didn’t expect such a quick update. You sir, are an awesome, wonderful man.
I’ve followed a few webcomics that are way inconsistent with updates.
….
Thank you. T_T
I’m guessing Doubt is hinting that that they are gonna have trouble ‘poiting’ back home and so are gonna have trouble explining what they are doing there with no passports or vias…
Dimes to doughnuts that the blade itself is in another dimension! Remember — M is a Doorway, so it’s likely the metal blade is “somewhere else” beyond regular reach!
But with M’s luck it probably still triggers the metal detectors. Good luck explaining that to a TSA agent.
“Look I promise, it’s a part of a key that’s stuck between dimensions. It doesn’t show up on the x-ray because it’s between dimensions remember? But it’s still connected to our dimension and can be sensed by the metal detector. No it’s not a bomb, it’s a part of a key, stuck in my brain, but between dimensions. It keeps the demons from crossing over. No it’s NOT a bomb.”
Oh, hello! I did not realise you read these. I heartily enjoy your comic!
I’ve read today’s, and the past week and it’s making a lot more sense now.
I’m mostly confused about Wapsi Universe dynamics, and how much everyone knew about what’s going on. Did Shelley know Monica wasn’t really going to die, or did she think she would and do it anyway for the good of everyone? She seemed pretty upset, so I’m guessing she had some pretty severe doubts.
If they get all the information from Brandi’s book, how could Previous – Brandi know what the correct action was if they didn’t suceed last time? What about Tina’s journals? Was that a red herring?
Also, didn’t Monica’s demons intend to destroy her? I seem to recall some sort of “We’ve earned her trust and now we will break her!” or something. The demon here seems to be awfully helpful. Also, if Monica’s locked, where do the demons here go?
Sorry, these are probaly all things I could get either from rereading the past few weeks and waiting for new strips. I might have to get the books when I’m a bit less poor.
1st question: We don’t know. What ever was written in those five pages convinced her that she had no other choice.
2nd question: Hey we are back in a loop so this what was written down here didn’t work last time. Lets put that in the book and add our own observations in case that we’ll fail again, also “Hey Phix can I please get the journals I wrote to help myself, I need to see what I need to put in my most up to date one”. Tina doesn’t have a journal (Maybe you meant Jin? Same answer)
Destroy Monica yes, in the same way that Tina is missing a few bits. Everyone has their own demons, what makes Monica interesting is that demons can enter our world through her without the restriction that they need to have a human to annoy.
Heee! She’s a TARDIS! Bigger on the inside, relative dimensions and all! I suspect the “Blade/key” isn’t actually going to be an issue, since it is likely in that relative dimension with Bud and the others as well, like a key broken off inside the lock.
Nope – she’s Monica’s Doubt. Shelly only has one “demon” – the creepy little girl who’s more-or-less her conscience who’s a consolidation of all of her original demons.
This being a blade/key with mystical properties, I’m thinking that now that it’s locked in Monica’s head, it no longer exists in a detectable physical form.
Of course, Doubt’s statement makes me doubt that. And is Doubt tangible and visible to everybody there?
Some other unresolved questions:
* Does this mean M can no longer “poit”? And, as a result, can she no longer visit Phix in the Library?
* What happened with Jin and her mom?
* Is JIn’s mom actually Doubt? (Which would mean Jin was demon spawn – somewhat appropriate…)
* Was Tina attempt #1 at this, and the whole thing backfired, resulting in them accidentally killing Tina 1.0?
Now I’m wondering if there is just some form of “Time Code” written in glyph instead of binary that allows them to poit, but without the green glowy bubble of doom like effect in Futurama. For that matter, if Poiting gets you form place to place in space, given we were just working with a giant machine to control time, can poiting eventually lead to forms of time travel? Has anyone answered yes or no to poiting=time travel possibilities?
And has anyone else added poit, Poit, Poiting, poiting, Poited, etc… to the dictionary so as NOT to keep getting the red squiggly line? (of doom)
So now, since the calendar machine is in Monica and the key was too, did Shelly just “wind” the calendar machine like a clock and we are now good for another 2012 years?
The calendar machine is not “in” Monica. Nor is the blade of the key. The machine is in the demon world and the blade is in the dimensional doorway to the demon world. Monica merely had a tatoo that served as the marker for a doorway to that world. Also, I think It doesn’t matter anymore if it’s rewound or not since it’s no longer in this world and can’t affect us, and a time controlling machine has no effect in a world without time (the demon world). At least that’s my guess.
If she can’t ‘poit’ she’s got problems. A US citizen trying to get back into the country without having left a record of leaving it is going to raise flags.
I have a feeling she’ll still be able to poit. I’d hate to have M lose access to Phix or the Bibliotheka. I am feeling as though there’s more to this situation, and that the ladies and demons are about to encounter a few more traps before this gets resolved decisively.
Why is Bud the only one that went in? Why didn’t Brandi or Jin or all three??
Poor Brandi…what is she going to do without Bud to keep her sane? I guess I expected Jin to go back with her mom and for Brandi and Bud to remain and finish out their lives in this time finally…they were just getting started at being normal…
As long as they keep the Key’s “hilt” stashed away somewhere safe, all’s good in the hood. In the unlikely event that they need to open M back up, they just put the handle back in place, dial the combination, and POOF! it’s open door policy time.
The key’s blade is now broken off in the lock of M’s gate/door, which means that it’s shut for all time (unless the entire lock is pulled and replaced; somehow I don’t think that it can be done without killing M).
I wonder what the medics think if she ever goes for an X-Ray due to trauma (accident or whatever) …
Love Monica’s expression… Shock or numb’d?
the expressions in the final frame are priceless.
Nothin’ but win!
Well, maybe Brandi can poit them to an ER. I just do not think that having a metal blade lodged into ones brain is ever a good thing.

She’s thinking — “I Win!”
It’s like a safe, hey?

Monica’s Doubt wasn’t a rogue demon, she was still where she belonged. =)

OK so the whole “have to wear hats from now on” thing is a non issue. However getting on planes is going to be a pain in the neck. XD
oh .. THAT’S what she meant. XD
Why even bother with planes when she can teleport? 😉
I’m guessing Doubt is hinting that that they are gonna have trouble ‘poiting’ back home and so are gonna have trouble explining what they are doing there with no passports or vias…

Yea, that will end well… 🙂
Oh man, I feel so weird they’re finally dealing with the calendar machine. It’s been coming for so long!
I know you’ve probably got everything planned out, but I’d love a few expositiony strips. I am super confused.
What’s got you confused? =)
Don’t say that Pablo! lol
Oh, hello! I did not realise you read these. I heartily enjoy your comic!

I Love Jamesons! Our Monica has good taste in whiskey!
Poor Monica! I spend all my life studying and preparing… to be a pin cushion? Nice to see the demon still up to her old tricks as well.
I thought the demon chick with the lights in her eyes was Shelly’s own demon; not one of Monica’s.
Nope – she’s Monica’s Doubt. Shelly only has one “demon” – the creepy little girl who’s more-or-less her conscience who’s a consolidation of all of her original demons.
At least i think that’s how Pablo described her.
@Paul: I think that “Geezus Chist” is missing an “r” in there…
This being a blade/key with mystical properties, I’m thinking that now that it’s locked in Monica’s head, it no longer exists in a detectable physical form.
Of course, Doubt’s statement makes me doubt that. And is Doubt tangible and visible to everybody there?
X-rays will never show the key blade, Doubt is just being a brat to Monica. It’s her job. =)
So Shelly couldn’t hear M’s Doubt or feel her pushing two days ago?
Shelly could sense something but not directly see her.
Isn’t that Shelly’s demon?
I hate when things break like that.
Some other unresolved questions:
* Does this mean M can no longer “poit”? And, as a result, can she no longer visit Phix in the Library?
* What happened with Jin and her mom?

* Was Tina attempt #1 at this, and the whole thing backfired, resulting in them accidentally killing Tina 1.0?
I figure that poiting is unrelated to this; isn’t it a direct consequence of her being a glyph-reader?
Now I’m wondering if there is just some form of “Time Code” written in glyph instead of binary that allows them to poit, but without the green glowy bubble of doom like effect in Futurama. For that matter, if Poiting gets you form place to place in space, given we were just working with a giant machine to control time, can poiting eventually lead to forms of time travel? Oh yes! I am curious about Jin’s Mum too. Oh, and Tina! Was she present the other times?
Oh man, I am over the top question girl today. I’m sorry.
….and I thought that was Jin saying “Good Luck at the Airport…..”
Nope, Jin’s wearing a cocktail dress, remember?
Why does Monica need airports anyway? She can poit – or at least, she used to.
They need to have visited a place already, so they can visualize it, before they can teleport there.
See: leavetheguntakethecloth/

Uh, Shelly is the one with the tattoo.
Correct all all counts but the tattoo, that’s Shelly. =)
If she can’t ‘poit’ she’s got problems. A US citizen trying to get back into the country without having left a record of leaving it is going to raise flags.
They can also teleport each other, gods of alcohol, underwear, etc, so that probably won’t be a problem anyway.
… Wait, if that thing only got rogue demons, is our possessed coffee barista in trouble?
Are you still going to explain (if there is any) significance in her notebooks?
Did M read them and not say anything yet? o.O;;
…and what about that choker?
I have a feeling she’ll still be able to poit. I’d hate to have M lose access to Phix or the Bibliotheka. I am feeling as though there’s more to this situation, and that the ladies and demons are about to encounter a few more traps before this gets resolved decisively.
You’ve been peeking over Pablo’s shoulder, again? 😉
GunnerWalker-
(Any relation to Johny?)
Not to nitpick, but it”s just Jameson, not Jameson’s.
Now, go and enjoy.
.Slainte-
I used to date a girl with a knife stuck in her head, she had the exact same expression!
And thanks Paul, I had a helluva week and spent the weekend in and out of the hospital, this was worth the wait to read a weeks worth all at once!
I’m pretty sure Bud’s gonna be back.
And likely bringing Jin’s Mom back with her.
Bud’s the only one who read the last few pages of Brandi’s book. That’s the only thing I can think is the reason.
Awww, I thought Monica was kinda cute with the little thing sticking out of her head 🙂
And Jin is going to be *happy* Alan is going to get exhausted with the amount of celebrating she’s going to want to do!
Poor Brandi, losing her roomie….
As long as they keep the Key’s “hilt” stashed away somewhere safe, all’s good in the hood. In the unlikely event that they need to open M back up, they just put the handle back in place, dial the combination, and POOF! it’s open door policy time.

Proof Monica’s screwed in the head.
Doubt has an awesome sense of humour. XD
M’s face made me crack up. She’s like “THERE’S A KNIFE IN MY BRAIN!”
“Clockwise”
Nice touch.
