Odd? Personally, I’ve always thought that it’d look cool provided it appeared to belong there (not sure how much structural change you’d need to properly support long canines in the human jaw; and by “properly”, it must include the likelyhood that they developed there).
No structural change needed as long as you restrict yourself to something like what Bud shows in this strip.
I did a bit of digging and there is surprisingly hard to find good information on something like this. The best source I found was a site tracking news for dentists. They had some articles on implanting fangs, and commented that the Twilight movies seemed to have made it more popular than ever. I guess that dates the articles somewhat, and lets not dwell on the (lack of) quality of this series.
If you have large implants installed you may have to learn to eat and talk all over again. Some of the people shown had fangs way larger than Bud’s in this strip, much larger than what I’d thought possible.
