The old saying that “every rain cloud has a silver lining” comes to mind. While Monica might have lost her plants, at least she found a way to cool herself down. 🙂
It’s okay, Monica. Making plants not die is hard work! This one time.. I tried growing some catnip, and umm.. I think the dirt I bought was bad, judging from how painful the last few seconds of life of the earthworm I dropped into the pot were… D:
So…. judging by the change in outfit (top and bottom) between panel 3 & 4, she went inside her house, changed her outfit, then went back outside to spray herself with the hose…
Wouldn’t the more… sane choice be to either:
A) Spray herself with the hose to begin with
or
B) Take a cool shower once already inside and naked, rather than putting on a new outfit to spray yourself with the hose?
Damn you cheesecake and your effect on characters’ brains!
But there’s something so much more satisfying about being out in the heat and spraying yourself with the hose than just taking a shower. Part of it is the evaporation effect and another part is that you don’t have any control over the temperature of the water.
And I suspect she didn’t go in and change – she probably just poited outside clothes on 🙂
My favorite is one of those sprinklers that sweeps from side to side — a deck chair carefully positioned, beverage of choice (in closed container to prevent dilution), and the water sprinkles on your side, then on the other, then on your side . . . .cools you off, lets you drip a minute, then cools you off again, while you relax and enjoy the great outdoors. Don’t forget to wear your sunscreen, kiddies!
So, if she went to the trouble of going inside and changing, why did she go back out to use the hose when a shower works so much better and is indoors?
This is why Ma liked Summer better than Winter. “When it’s hot, it doesn’t take much to cool off. You can just basically pour a bucket of water over your head, and you’re good. Winter, you just bundle up in layers, or stay inside most of the time. Summer, it’s time to go to the lake!”
Is the summer arrived in the twin cities? Here in central europe it isn’t. It’s cloudy, raining and cold. In the alps snow was falling down to 4500 ft! Some roads are closed because that…
The expression in the last panel says it all
Her plants may have wilted, but that doesn’t mean that Monica herself has to follow suit. I have to admit that I like her style.

Well, sometimes, Plan B is better!
…or in this case, plan Double G? ;D
And we’re all kids again, playin’ in the sprinkler….
Well that’s the next best thing if you don’t have a swimming pool. 😉
Now I’d pay double for a sculpture of that last panel. Muy caliente
Monicas expression in the last panel really reminds me of Peanuts 😛 Classic.
*stares at panel four* :O
Oh my! 😀
Huh, I guess I was channeling George Takei. 😉
*goes back to staring at panel four*
Although, I don’t think Mr. Takei would care much about panel four!
Point.
*chuckle*
Yeeeesss…

(… she’s only a ‘toon … she’s only a ‘toon … she’s only a ‘toon …)
Meh, my Real Life I’m surrounded by huge boobs, I like Shelly better.
If you’re needing to take a break and need a replacement, let me know.
She’s not sexy, she’s just drawn that way? ;3
Evil Paul, so evil…. 😉
That expression is so great LOL
complete and total refreshment…. ahhhh
By an amazing coincidence, I also feel the need to spray myself with a garden hose…except it’s not even close to 100 F here.
It’s not myself I wish I was spraying with that garden hose. Homina homina homina.
Panels 2 and 3 are very nice, too…
There are other panels?
The way temps have been here in the Midwest, I don’t blame her for turning the hose on herself.
(I guess I’ve been reading this strip too long to focus on the cheesecake….)
Sizzle pop; that lesser-known counterpart to Iggy pop…
Yep . Summer’s here .
Not here it ain’t, I’m afraid… and we don’t need no hose to get drenched in rain, either… 🙁
I LOVE her outfit from work! ESPECIALLY her boots!
Shame on you. You misspelled boobs.
Heheheheh !
True ’nuff; very classy & museum-apropos. The headband is a rather cute touch.
She might want to switch to hens and chicks, pretty tough, drought resistant, and can survive drunken college parties. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hen_and_chicks

Yeah, it’s fan service. I know it’s fan service…
Good Lord, I LOVES ME SOME FAN SERVICE.
Many thanks, Paul.

Anyone else looking at Monica’s grin and thinking “Peanuts”? Yeah, guys, up a bit.
Yep .
I’m convinced that Monica has a spine made of Mithril.
Today’s page made me happy. Kudos.
Heh, my plants are literally doing exactly that!
Great extra use of water tho 😉
Monica looks really pretty in panels 2 and 3. Especially 3. She must be nearly five feet tall with those boots on.
Summer is here! Beach party with everyone!

~D.
I love the goofy grin on her grill; funny as HELL!

Yep, it went from the 60s right into the 90s and that’s a big jump for the middle of Minnesota.
When all else fails, improvise. If the plants don’t need the water any more…
