Same thing goes for dark matter, dark energy, Higgs bosons and parallel universes, of course.

Well it has been shown that it’s possible to sail an Egyptian reed boat the distance needed over open sea, using primitive navigational techniques, and weathering the occasional storm. But there is still no evidence that they ever did so.
