Tina slips on the ice and we find out the choker she wears actually holds her head on. The head and body can live independently. When separated, the head becomes a kind of crystal ball that can foretell events to come while in a trance-like state. It can also help people find their lost socks and car keys.
I’ve always thought that the choker was more for hiding whatever scars Tina has on her neck from the accident than a fashion statement. She has been known to be evasive when asked about her past and I don’t see her wanting to answer something like “Damn girl, what the hell happened to your neck?’ from curious customers. I know one person who almost had her throat cut in a car accident and has sported a large scar ever since. It’s not hideous but I imagine she doesn’t like to be asked about it very often. Tina, on the other hand, died from her injuries so I would imagine that the resulting mess of scar tissue would be cause for some “how did you survive that?’ awkwardness. The choker is a good way to hide all that and would explain why she is never seen in public without it. Or it could just be that it looks killer on her and she knows it.
You know, I did a slip much like that (so much so looking at that panel was giving me 27 year old flashbacks) and somehow ended up landing on (and breaking) my ankle.
Unpredictable slips lead to unpredictable landings.
Is that some kind of bruise on the right side of Tina’s face? Though if it is, it seems to be going right through her eye. Actually looks more like a tiny tire track.
I think she slid, had the same thing one time falling down a hill, also look at her right arm, another line, could be parallel scratches. Or last night was kitty bath night.
I’m not sure. She often has a strand of hair across her eye and it looks a little similar to here, including the texture. I don’t know why else Tina would have said what she did, though. I don’t think Tina was talking metaphorically about what happened to Jin, was she?
Why can’t I find a coffee shop like that? One with interesting people and a cheerful attendant like Tina. Oh, that’s right, I live in the real world. Also I’d actually have to get out and do things to make that happen. Nevermind.
Actually they’re like that all around you, the thing is you have to go to the locally owned and operated shops instead of the Bigbucks that pop up on almost every corner. We have a couple like that in my town that aren’t chains, I use them as oft4en as I can afford to.
Nasty little bruise Shel’s sporting there.
I thought Shelly was falling backwards, so why does she look like she took a face plant?
I doubt PW would make a story line where we saw the bruise on her rump.
Unless, of course, it was essential for plot exposition…. 😉
Hmmm. What plot line could we dream up…

Well, that choker has to have some significance – it’s the only item of costume on anybody in the strip that’s been consistently the same all along.
I think i found one strip where Tina isn’t wearing it – and i suspect that one was just an slip on Pablo’s part.
The only time that I know that I purposely didn’t have Tina with the choker was when she was in bed. 🙂
Might have been.

she did a flip

She could easily have managed a full revolution with that kind of momentum.
No truer words were spoken Tina .
yup thats how the weather feels at the moment 🙂
think its getting warmer then it turns round and freezes you.
Still keeps you on your toes.
Lil confuzzled by Tina tho. The proving part is normally something someone would say when a few things of the same nature has happened.
Wonder if she slipped too 😀

Pablo’s art is just getting looser. I’d wager she is referring the conversations with Jin/Monica/Bud.
Whoa!
Is that maturity?
Who are you and what have you done with Shelly?
Well, She’s acted that way before, for a few seconds, anyway.
Now THAT’S the comfortably passive, poignantly wise, non scary demon hands Tina I know and love!
Wow!
That is a heck of a Zen moment there! ^_^
Gravity: not just a good idea, it’s the law! (it’s also a harsh mistress)
A good, strong cup of coffee will help her get back on track.
“… not landing on your feet is our reminder that Mother Earth will always be there to catch us, whether we want her to or not.”
Now why do I have the sudden impression that Pablo (as Tina 2.0) is giving us the moral set-up to the next story arc before it has really started?
Cuz it’s Friday???
Oh, hell, so it is – the weekend is upon us, and there are no more updates until Monday. Dratsab.

Hopefully the whiplash won’t kill us.
