Honey, if you’re gonna get hit by lightning, don’t set the house on fire…

Yeah, Lightning does nothing to a Leaf-type. I have enough Pokemon lore to know THAT much.

I don’t know. We had a huge tree in a park in Newport. It got hit by lightening and a huge piece got blown off.

There was a tree in my area i cant put my arm around. It was hit by lightning and some one meter of the trunk just exploded. The treetop just dropped down and then fall to the side.

I’d settle for sitting in the middle of one and not getting wet and cold.

I told myself if I was ever able to design my own house, I’d put in a small upper floor with a dome on it so I could watch the entire sky when there was a thunderstorm.

So, Kat’s white streak has returned. Even before her hair grew back out. They just don’t make hair dye like they used to.

Why would her hair grow back out? She changed her style. Presumably she’s followed that first trim with several more since then.
Or do you shave your head in January so it’ll be about the right length for Christmas pictures in December?

I have to cut my hair several times a year. Short in the late spring, again mid-summer, and once more mid-fall. Otherwise I wake up in a puddle and can’t get back to sleep.

Man, it must be weird having a child that is, well, not indestructible, is certainly superhumanly durable. I wonder how that would change your parenting style. Would your emotions “get the memo”, or would you still feel worry even though mentally you know that 99% of what is out there poses no risk to your daughter?

Pickle, please try not to leave caramelisation (charring, for you non cooking types) on the metal roof, will you? Thanks!

If you’re leaving scorch-marks, you need a bigger gun.

I think the World Grid was designed to keep all those ‘Bigger Guns’ out.

“lightning does nothing to a leaf type”? Ever see a tree get struck by lightning?

      You’re forgetting the ‘Pokemon’ context…

That’s ground types. Leaf types take reduced damage from electric attacks.

My Pokemon lore is informed by a passing consumption of the TV show, my purchases for the then young kid, & taking him to the ‘2000’ theatrical movie…

And, to my slight embarrassment, Rule #34.

I had a stepson who loved Pokemon. He lost interest around the age of eleven.

She probably needs to move in with Bud and Brandi since they’re likely the only ones she can’t hurt by accident. Of course Shelly’s mom survived the destruction of a continent So she’s probably OK too, and on that, just how tough is Shelly now?

This is actually making me turn from Pickle: if even her mother is becoming scared of her, it wasn’t that long ago Kat could still use The Mom Voice, now she can’t even show concern

Sorry Sprout, but you are on the steep slope to Bully-hood

She’s not scared of her but scared for her…

In that second panel Pickle looks at her mom knowing that there is almost nothing in this world that is a threat to her. This makes her sad as she’s afraid of loosing her connection to those she loves.

Katherine can see how sad her little tumble weed is and recognizes that she was about to draw even more attention to just how far from human Castela has grown by saying that it could be dangerous to stay on the roof. Unfortunately asking her to try to avoid leaving scorch marks wasn’t any better.

I think in that some time soon it will come to a point where Kat will invoke “Mom’s Voice” on Castela Enora Gilchrist, and it will remind Castela that no matter how powerful and dangerous she is, her mom still has all the power needed to be her equal.

Well that’s how I read this page… Now if my predictions com true it’s going to ruin my perfect score of being wrong….

First one is Kat being scared for her, but panel three has Kat being scared of her, otherwise, why the blush? And she wasn’t telling Stela that she had school tomorrow so don’t stay up late, she was asking her not to stay up late

I read this as Kath being worried about Pickle in the first panel. Second panel is Castella doing her best “Seriously Mom ?” impression and third panel is Kath realizing she’s being silly and being embarrassed into a blush then reminding Castella that she still can’t remain there too long even if it won’t hurt her.

If Castela were my kid, I’d be all; “GOD DAMMIT! IDID NOT RAISE MY DAUGHTER TO BE A FUCKIN’ LIGHTNING ROD!!!”
