What happened to Mastodon? I need to research Bluesky.
Mastodon is like an abandoned mall. No one wants to join because it’s too damn hard to find others with similar interests across multiple instances.
With no invites, Bluesky is like a locked up mall with all the display windows blacked out. Saying “I’m in here!” doesn’t really work if nobody can see you.
One thing for sure if people’s experience of it are very different. My problem with it for example is that there’s too many interesting people to follow and I only have so much attention available. To each their own, I guess.
You wouldn’t happen to have any invite codes available, would you?
Sorry, not yet.
So, Twitter is flaying around in the musky tar pit created by corporate greed and stupidity, slowly dying as the little birdies all sensibly move away to other platforms. Mastodon shot its load too early and missed the start of the exodus, and it’s now fading away. Bluesky hasn’t opened their doors yet, and if they don’t hurry up and stop with the elitism, another platform might draw all those little birdies to land in their branches. Are these the choices we have now? Thanks, Elon.
…I’ll just keep an eye on things here. Much easier for those of us who are social-media-averse. 🙂
