OMG, THAT IS SO EPIC!! XD
I wish I could do that when it gets cold!!
Y’know, without hurting myself. X3
She probably has a handprint burned into her PJ bottoms now too that Alan may find curious.
I hope that Alan has learned, by now, to let such curiosities go without mentioning them.
Has Alan, in fact, been Brought Up To Speed?
Oh yeah. he knows what Jin really is, but he doesn’t care.
I’ll have to look, but I don’t think he actually knows the whole story, just that Jin has some abandonment issues (obviously!), and he has stated that what ever has happened in the past, he is in it for the long haul…i.e., I don’t think he knows she’s an immortal being…
He has personally witnessed her trying to cut her wrist with a high-end kitchen knife, and producing a seriously bent and twisted high-end kitchen knife. She also talks candidly in bed about how she’s nothing but a haunted empty shell. He knows.
This conversation got me thinking.
Do we know what *Alan* is?
Well, considering he can satisfy a golem, the word “stud” comes to mind.
hm, perhaps he might just try to utilize that situation…
Hey! If it works, it works!
ooohkay..That one had me spilling my coffee over my iPod.
Must be about yesterday morning. I saw that it hit -18C in Minneapolis.
A warm butt at such times is worth more than all kingdoms&riches in the world… 😆 :p
“Happiness = a flaming hand under your butt on a cold wintermorning” 😛
“Happyness is a warm bum.”
Ok, mangled Beatles quotes are… somehow fitting here.
I think it should be: “Happiness is a toasted bun.”
I miss the old cast-iron steam radiators. They were the best thing to sit on and toast a bun.
Yep She’s Hot!!!
Methinks that Jin has a rock in her near future from Alan. 🙂
My first thoughts, too.
But I don’t see Jin as the marryin’ kind. Outside of Shelly, she’s got the biggest abandonment issues. How’s she going to deal with him getting old and dying?
Or a puppy, maybe he’s bringing her a puppy.
Oh, like she needs one more voice in the attic.
I always wondered about giving a pet for therapeutic reasons to an immortal. Sure, pet gives unconditional love, but will ALWAYS die, being mortal, thus creating more abandonment issues down the line, yes/no?
Mortals outlive their pets, too.
As i’ve said before:
They give us so much, and ask so little in return…
…just a little piece of your soul.
They give us so much, and ask so little in return…
…just a little piece of your soul.
Not so far fetched. Pardon me if I’ve mentioned this before, I don’t remember. There is a theory that animals don’t have individual souls, but rather a tiny portion of a collective soul upon creation and give it back to the whole at death. Pets, however, are slightly different in that they also get a tiny piece of a human soul from their owner. It is this which keeps them separate from the animal collective soul, and allows them to follow us wherever we go in the next life.
Ooo…I like that theory/explanation!
…to piddle on. 😀
Suddenly the world has a use for the pet rock.
Courtesy of Bud?
When you said this I was imagining a large heating rock for her to nap on, as opposed to a ring.
I hope they don’t get married. That always screws up the dynamic in stories, especially one like this. Not to mention the fact that, when the author finally realizes this later on, he/she tends to kill off one of them. In this case it would most likely be adios for Alan. Think about how many TV shows went belly up not long after the main characters finally married.
Of course, some will do it to introduce tragic pathos into the story by having the non-main character of the pair die in some unexpected way shortly after, or just before the wedding. Sometimes on the wedding day.
If anime has taught me anything, it’s do not get engaged and go out on a mission….
Rather a Charlie Brown face in the last panel…
I can’t get the look on her face out of my mind !!
I now remember one scene from a horde of (gratefully forgotten) sitcoms from the 80’s: a young man pulling his jeans out of the microwave, slipping them on, and sighing “Ah, warm buns!”
And who knows what useful memory was replaced with THAT one.
One hopes not riveted jeans…
Yes, the brand might leave an impression….
Actually, i was thinking of copper rivets in a microwave…
meh..modern microwaves seem not to care. I once warmed a Noodle-box, metal handle and all (ooops) nothing happened. Noodles got nice ‘n warm.., metal handle even hotter.
The tiny logo, stamped on rivets would leave nice burnmarks though..
Actually, I think that metal rivets in a microwave is exactly what NOTDilbert was thinking!
So long as the metal doesn’t touch the sides, top, or bottom of the microwave, no problem (except the very efficient heating of the metal). If they do touch, you get a very nifty lightning-bolt effect and can throw that microwave away.
Not in my experience. A friend had just gorren her first microwave (many years ago) and was going to warm up some sort of snack for us, and out in a plate with real gold leaf trim.
Well, it had gold leaf trim.
A CD in a microwave can be interesting, too.
Fairportfan is correct…ANY metal , no matter how small, will create arcs in a microwave. I had no idea one morning that the refridgerated peanut butter still had a tiny amount of the foil seal still attached to the jar until…
IIRC, it’s the sharp edges of the metal that cause the most problem. A rivet, with nice round edges, should be OK. But very hot.
Um, hey kids, dont go using one that *you* have not paid for, unless you want to be grounded for setting the kitchen on fire/ messing it up!! 🙂
and follow the safety rules , as in this vid! 😀
iliad, good video. It reminded me of the Flaming Strawberry PopTarts (SPT) experiment, with the classic line, “At this point, the researchers also realized that the heat could inadvertently melt the adhesive cellophane and cause the flaming SPTs to suddenly eject from the toaster. Unfortunately, this did not occur.” (just below Figure 4).
Also do not put a potato in the microwave for an hour. It starts on fire and then your popcorn never looses that burned flavor. 😀
Jim’s expression in that last panel XD
*psst* it’s JIN not Jim O_O
THAT is a happy little psycho girl! Awwwwwww…..
Even golems who cannot technically feel the cold – like to be warm 🙂
Maybe its psychosomatic?
No, she feels the cold – can’t be psychosomatic because she was asleep when Alan put his cold toes on her.
I think there is a difference between being able to feel the cold, and being harmed by it.
If she were really cold, she could just sit in the fire.
Or poit to Egypt.
Prolly not a good idea right now…
Yeah, maybe poit to Hawaii.
If Alan freaked out over the knife thing, he’d really freak if he found her sitting in the fireplace. At least for a moment or two. He’s gotten fairly casual about things. As I recall the only thing he said about her fire breath was not to set the curtains on fire (again?).
Maybe its a unique Jin thing
I was thinking of the nakid bud in the snow when I made that comment.
AFAIK the difference is they can feel heat and cold, but not physical pain.. 🙂
That is correct. =)
Hey fans, do not forget to
I wonder if that’s much the same epression she gets when Alan hits juuuust the right spot.
Notice the change in Jin’s pupils …
As I recall, Monica had a similar expression when she was felt up by her demons:
And the page following.
Kids, don’t try this at home.
Yep, when you’ve been up that butt in snow or out in that icy wind, there IS nothing like sitting in front of a fireplace warming said frozen butt up. We have a fireplace – me and my cats all agree with Jin and have probably had the same expression on our faces. Soooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooooooood…….
Clay retains heat for a long time. Good strategy! 😛
Okay, it’s a darn-ed good thing I didn’t have a mouthful of breakfast just at that moment, or I would be replacing my monitors…
Damn, after sitting out a couple hours in our 55 degree warehouse programming up a shipping system yesterday and then dealing with the Sciatica pain that evening, despite thermal underwear, I’m jealous. You just don’t know how good that would have felt!
Bwahahahahahaha!!! Simple pleasures are the best. ^_^ Of course the definition of “simple pleasures” can vary according to the powers of the being involved.
It’s the simple things in life that are the most satisfying…
An order of Hot Buns for the little lady!
Nothing like a warm butt to brighten your day. 😀 It certainly makes a difference to me.
Love that expression in the last panel …
Well done Jin.
That last panel would make a good t-shirt. LOVE the expression!
LOL Jin’s face in the last panel is priceless! I wish i could do that, plus I kinda just realized why shes not a winter person… She was the snake part of the chimera, which means she would be technically cold-blooded when she transforms…So it’s instinct for her to hate the cold….
thanks DeNarr for the epiphany, even if i’m totally late. XD
That was the best laugh I’ve had all day. Thanks.
In the next-to-last panel she has a little girl’s curiosity etched in her face… that made me smile.
Garfield has a suggestion.
ROFL – Jin looks like I feel when I get my cold hands wrapped around a mug of hot cocoa – the kind with cinnamon and chilis – and just soak in the heat before it cools enough to sip….
do you mean chilis as in peppers? that sounds divine! I’ve had the chance to indulge in some Spanish chocolate that had peppers in it, and the spicy sweetness was fantastic. I never thought to expand that to hot cocoa though…
Ive heard of Chilli powder ala ‘chocolat’ in hot chocolate but never really tried it myself as the generic powdered hot chocolate tastes so powdery and stuff.
Tried it in solid chocolate (aztec magnum and the green+blacks chilli chocolate) and love those 🙂
What brand of hot chocolate do you have?
mayan mystica magnum
sorry – my brain keeps saying its the aztec even tho i know its not!
You can buy complete mixes – Dagoba makes a lovely one, available at health stores and possibly online. I can’t afford it regularly, so I invented my own home version that works very well. I pour the amount of milk I need to fill my mug into a small saucepan, then add a healthy couple shakes of cinnamon and then a shake of chili powder – one does it for me, but use more if you like extra heat. I use either Silk light soy or almond milk due to an allergy, but it works with whatever milk you like. Over a low flame it heats gently, stirring constantly. When the vapors start rising – before it simmers – turn off the heat, whisk in 2 tablespoons of a good unsweetened cocoa – I use Hershey’s Special Dark, but use what you have or can get. I use a couple packets of Stevia to keep the calories down, or you can use sugar. Mini marshmallows are strictly optional, but yummy! Enjoy!!! 😉
Jn’s facial expression in the last panel is absolutely priceless.
Damn I’m jealous. That would be amazingly epic if I could warm my tush the same way….
