I honestly doubt that Monica is doomed. Stabbing isn’t always fatal. It might be the only to snap Monica out of something at the critical moment.
I wonder if Monica’s part is critical to the machine functioning as it is currently. We know that the machine needs to be set on a different phase than it is running now. If Monica “fails” at the precise moment, while the others are ready to snap it into correct phase, then the stabbing could be the metaphysical version of giving the machine a good swift kick.
Methinks that after whatever happened last time through, Brandi decided to wipe her mind of the memories… though I think now we may know what Brandi’s nightmares are about.
Not necessary; Brandi and Bud never retained their memories after a reset. Only Jin did that, because she was present when Maya attempted to destroy the machine.
