I suspect that at this point, Monica is simply “going back to the library following the path that Brandi showed her”. The fact that the skill has wider applications has yet to dawn on her.
And … I believe that this is the first time we ever see her do it.
Honestly, that reply doesn’t make sense in the context of the story so far.
The point people are making is: if I was teleported to a mystical library by a magical being and then teleported back, I would still not have the ability to teleport to said library alone in most works of fiction if I had no previous knowledge of how to teleport and no one was shown teaching me the skill at any point.
This is why it feels like Monica has suddenly and inexplicably developed this new ability…. which can certainly be a plot point, but is a surprise at the moment.
Sorry Monica, while Shelly can be sweet and intelligent she was being a bully. What Shelly did was assault and attempted theft and possibly battery. You don’t grab things from other peoples hands (particularly after they say no).
I think that assessment ignores the relationship of the two involved. I also think the word bully assigns more of a need to dominate than I think is accurate. Shelly was focused on the book cover, not on demonstrating her dominance over her friend. Shelly is a rough and tumble sort of friend who went further than she should. A calm friend would be more interested in why Shelly was so insistent in the first place than whether they could press charges.
Did she know she knew how to poit?

Yeah. How does she know how to poit?

“And … I believe that this is the first time we ever see her do it.” Well, consciously.
There was that one sneeze . . .
This one seems to be broken as of this timestamp.
At this poi(n)t I think there has been some sort of time jump within the reality of the comic.
Without giving too much away, Shel’s reaction to Monica poiting is surprisingly devoid of surprise…

I beleive you are rationalizing.
