They aren’t colleagues one is an artistic photographer, the other is a COMMERCIAL photographer. One is trying to invoke an ephemeral emotional reaction, the other a specific strong, lasting reaction

I think that she calls him “photoboy,” is a good indication of what she thinks – or, doesn’t think – of Kevin’s abilities.
