Katherine set up the entire MIB program for adopting para orphans. She made a difference for pretty much every other orphan in at least the orphanage that Castela & Atsali came from. Just, y’know, in case we’re composing a list of differences.
And, seeing the look in Bryn’s eyes, probably another bullet point for the List.
Sometimes we forget that Castela’s older then we once thought. Other times we forget that emotionally she’s still a child with the intellectual maturity of an adult….It’s a strange balance.
MLP and feels on the way, but I feel it’s appropriate for the situation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynCFOYSq2lo in the event the link breaks or something the song is Acceptance by Nameless Pony, the video is from Feather OLDACCOUNT ~<3
What goes around, comes around; that is love’s law. It can sometimes blind you from seeing your own flaw. Love you’ll find is a two-way street… if you don’t look both ways, then you shall never meet.
She’s still processing, finding out that you were as much of an important part in someone elses life as they were in yours, specially at the physical age Stela is, can be a lot to take in
Looks like she’s starting to gain the realization that a parent has a life of their own-separate from the part that includes their children. Children don’t realize that their parent was once a different person, with different priorities and a different personal identity. A child only sees certain sides of their parents, and it is easy to see why a kid would draw the conclusion that “they KNOW their parent(s) completely. It can be quite surprising, and overwhelming certainly, when you realize that your parents are their own person, not Just Your Parents.
Surprise. You made a difference for her.
Yup. I’d say that the Gilchrists are a family, in which every single one of them saved all of the others.

Really? I thought it was just Katherine adopting the two of them. (Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve missed something important in the continuity.)
Yeah I think it was Brandi and Bud who set up the adoption program.
My bad if I got that wrong. Had it in my head that Katherine “tells” MIB what to do (being “above” MIB) & therefore she set up the program.
Looks like another archive dive this weekend to refresh myself. And, dammit*, I just ran 2003 through about 2007 last weekend ….
*dammit for values of “I wish I didn’t have any Real Life getting in the way of diving the archives of 50 or more webcomics every day.”
No, she is above field agent, or whatever Nudge offered her, not knowing just how high up she actually is

It makes her one of the most complex and endearing characters in the adventure
So she is more mature then allot of adults?
Learning how to reframe situational context is part of growing up.

I guess it was just too much for Castela, what Atsali told her yesterday.

These simple panels are some of the best installments of the strip. Simple, yet profound.
Not *just* you, you adorable little stinkweed.

Reminds me a little bit of Shelly-Vision…
