Between the adolescent hormonal changes, her recent confusion about her attraction to sexuality (double cute girl hug!), the fact that most of her group are in relationships (at least tentatively) and her own specific history/fear of abandonment, it’s not unreasonable to worry that she could overreact.
And we’ve all seen how well she deals with emotional overloading. I’m sure her training has helped but being overwhelmed could cause her to forgot temporarily.
Whether she’s primarily Woody or Herbaceous, her Primary Respiratory processes are most likely Aerobic. There’s no direct sunlight here and the ambient temperature is likely under well under 45︒C … Let me put this another way:

On reflection I think we should be impressed that a Castela that was so upset that she was crying managed to maintain human eyes for as long as she did.
It took a hug attack to make her revert to eyestalks.
If I’m correct that Cas’s crying was because she was blindsided by actually feeling touched by Shawna’s sentimental affection, I hope that’s cleared up soon. I also hope that Cas doesn’t feel bad about Shawna (for well-meaning reasons) ranting that she’s a poor, formerly-lonely orphan with abandonment issues.
Shawna has always meant well, but she could use a few lessons in tact and perception.
(I’m not sure if I’d be happier if Scarlet is doing this whole thing sincerely or if she’s affectionately screwing with Castela. The former is sweet of her, but the latter is sweet of her and shows how well she knows Cas.)

This is all very appropriate and proper. The making of pressed flowers is a very old and respected tradition!
