Do we really want a teleport-capable (and unintentional-teleport-prone) para wandering around in the basement, not so very far at all from the World Grid anchor? This could add to all sorts of… well, “interesting”… complications.
And, it just shows to go ‘ya, what can happen if you walk happily down a school corridor with your eyes firmly closed. If you don’t watch where you’re going, you could end up in Detention (or someplace worse).
It’s possible she’s not actually teleporting (and the other girls here are siting reasons why that’s unlikely) but possibly some other form of movement ability she’s unconsciously activating while mentally distracted or with her eyes closed. Such as phasing through solid walls, or super speed. She might also be using a type of short-range pseudo-teleporting ability (think a Blink spell) that doesn’t quite catch hold of the Library’s anti-teleportation measures because it functions differently, actually crossing the intervening space in a fraction of a second, or something like the Portal gun; negating the space/distance between two points rather than moving her that distance.
There’s lots of options there.
I would call her “Adorkable,” but I’m not sire there’s any room for improvement. She already outmatched Two of the Premere Dorks in the School, without even trying! Talk about “Powerful!” This Girls easily in Atsali’s Weight Class.
She’s a Disrupter, a True Agent of Chaos. In scarcely 20 seconds after meeting them, with little, or No effort on her part, Briar has thrown two of the most analytical, competent, intelligent, Nerds in the School, into frantic, panicky Disorder. If this were Atsali, these two would be busting their Facial Carotid Arteries trying to suppress a ROFL. Atsali is an gentle, good hearted, Oblivious TANK. With Brier, they are actually worried about her SAFETY.

She’s not even aware she can… whatever she did?
Her ability to confuse things doesn’t just work on others, it works on herself quite well.
That reminds me of someone in the chronicles of ‘XANTH’ (by Piers Anthony).
A guy named “Bink” was trying to discover his magical talent, but couldn’t.
Even the ‘Magician of information’ (the mage who could find out ANYTHING) couldn’t discover it.
He could only find that Bink had ‘magician-level power’ (the absolute maximum).
Turned out Bink was immune to any (and I do mean ‘any’) magical effect.
His talent was actively hiding to ensure nobody would try to harm him without magic.
Briar seems to have a similar problem, she can do something very powerful (or very confusing) without even knowing she has done it.
For my personal tastes, his writing style/quality fell off more and more as the series went on. enough so, that i finally stopped reading it after the first trilogy-of-trilogies (9th book or so)… out of 43 books now. (with 4 more currently in the works…)
Who knew they had a Lost and Found system in the school. 1 Lost studdent just Found herself in the Boiler room.
Oh, boy.

Her mind is wandering, and is taking her along for company.
I love that.
I’m going to use it, myself.

I hear Mihoshi’s voice every time she speaks… given what kinda trouble she is getting in to it just makes it even more so…. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhZNJeriNK0)
*makes popcorn*
I think it’s less “how powerful a creature” and more “how much of a ditz”
One, two, Castela’s coming for you….
The clueless kind of powerful?

The Boiler Room? Oh well, at least she won’t be on her own for long.
(Unless the shade who frequented there has moved on to somewhere else.)
Yes.
Connie has in deed moved on to better things
Shawna, I’m sure all she did was turn sideways to reality and stepped through1

Holy carp, I finally found someone besides my mother who knows of the wondrous land of Xanth. It only took me 20 years.

You aren’t the only one. I am a fan of the series, although they have become rather formulaic after the first 10 books or so.
Yeah, the last one for me was the one where the ancient zombie was lusting after the schoolgirl, didn’t even make it through the first chapter
Sounds like a typical boilerplate deal with her…
