Not that it is necessarily a bad thing. This will give her the chance to devote all of her intellect to the problem and every thing else will take care of itself (in a good way this time). It is a rare occasion when things can align so well but we are talking about Aunt Bud. She will always have the backs of any of Pickles friends.
What is good for somebody to do is very different from what somebody wants to do or intends to do. Arranging things this way might make others happy, but it might not make Scarlet happy.
(I’m reminded of General Lucius Clay, who, as a military man, had a desire to see combat and command troops in combat. Probably would have been good at it, too—but he was so good at the administrative side he got shunted into jobs of that nature. If he hadn’t had strong character it would have broken him.)
Well, the fact is there is no such thing as following a straight path.
Of necessity we have to interact with people, places, things, and even time itself.
And let us not forget that everybody is part of a hierarchy whether we like it or not, no one is truly independent, nor do we actually want to be.
Otherwise we’re in Hobbe’s State of Nature, that is living a life that’s Solitary Mean Nasty Brutish and Short.
Well, considering the mercurial nature of time here… or the simple fact that things escalated much faster than she thought… maybe she thought she had more time to broach this subject to her mom? Then again, she could’ve been around Hiroshi a little too much and the forgetfulness rubbed off a bit on her for a period of time?
“Castel Enora Gilchrist The school called from my office. If they call me at my office again and I have to come down here, you best be DYING, young lady!”
Feels like Scarlet’s being guided down a path that might not be the one she would take on her own.

Should be an interesting conversation between her and her parental unit when she gets home . . .
The experiment was classified, remember? https://wapsisquare.com/comic/back-on-topic/
Yep, and based on previous pages, Bud has already read Scarlett’s mom in.

Where Katherine arrives…
door shuts normally: khool.
door slams: prepare for “mom voice”
“Castel Enora Gilchrist The school called from my office. If they call me at my office again and I have to come down here, you best be DYING, young lady!”
… Her mother is going to skin her alive. O_O
Is there a market for para-vixen pelts?
We’ve go E-Bay, of course there is.
There’s the guy with a collection of werewolf skins, but he can only show them when there’s a full moon.
Well we’ll get to find out Scarlet’s full name, when she gets home and has the talk with her mom.😁😏
Scarlet Gail Duncan. It’s come up before.
Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive…
SHe should plead unexpected speed and throw herself on the mercy of the court.
She hasn’t told her mom? See, Timothy? She ALREADY did something stu– unwise. 🙂
Welcome back
As far as I know, it still hasn’t been established whether Scarlet’s maternal grandmother was of Japanese/Chinese background.
Studying said grandmother’s notebook* could be what inspired her to cunduct such an experiment.
