It’s called muscle memory dear. Your body is used to walking to your office, but not to biking. Walking can increase in difficulty enough if you change the routine and shorten your stride. Try it and you’ll see what I mean.
If I’m not mistaken, “muscle memory” is simply the term for the phenomenon where you can perform non-automatic actions without thinking about them. Like applying the brakes without looking or feeling for them.
Her problem is that she is using muscles she’s not accustomed to using (or to using this strenuously); after that bike ride, the fronts of her thighs are probably shot. I used to have the same issue on my grandparent’s trampoline! Woo-hoo!
I don’t usually feel those pains in my legs per se but, my butt, and lower pelvic bone are rarely happy with me after riding for a few days when I hadn’t for a month, similar to breaking into a saddle, or riding a horse if I recall right,
