Isn’t that a double-action, not a single-action? One trigger-pull initiating two actions? (Both loading a round and cocking the chamber.) Automatics only initiate a single action with the trigger pull – it drops the hammer. All the rest is initiated as part of a chain reaction. (Bullet is fired, the gas explosion works the slide, the slide opens the chamber to eject the bullet, and cocks the hammer/pin/whatever, etc.)
The fella described it as a first generation cavalry model in the previous strip. It’s an antique, and doubtless single-action.
And they make double-action and even double-action only semiautomatics; Sig-Sauer’s decocker models (e.g., P226) are an excellent example of the first, and if you google “DAO auto” you’ll find many examples of the second.
If she DID take up competitive single action shooting, I wonder what cowboy name she’d pick?
No, you can have single and double action revolvers. Double action pulls the hammer back, and rotates the bullet chamber as you squeeze the trigger, the the hammer drops and the bullet fires when trigger fully squeezed.
Single action means after a shot, you have to manually cock the hammer, the trigger only lets the hammer fall and fires the shot. probably goto howstuffworks.com for a diagram so it’s less confusing lol.
yup and my language probably sounds like a mix of ancient greek, internet spammer, and quotes from paradise lost… no wonder no one gets my speech… am i right ksein?
Artesimia, unless we are in on it, any jargon tends to sound like ancient Greek plus modern slang mixed with a dose of “normal” words–remember Monica on sound systems? (https://wapsisquare.com/comic/02022005/)

To be clear, I’m going to put in a link that should explain the difference between a single action vs a double action gun.

…My gosh, do I sound like that when I talk about stuff I like? Cause that was like another language there!
I think we all tend to be like that. What we are interested in needs special vocabulary, and we just use it, because it’s accurate and concise…

I dunno. I don’t really LIKE guns and I understood all that. Maybe its just because I’m a really technical minded fellow o.o’
I don’t know if that was another language but that was AWESOME.
it’s like me when I get started talking about my video games/books/webcomics
