Marriageable age used to be 12 over virtually the entire world. Not in ancient times or anything, like a century ago or less.
Go rock the high-schooler Monica! Think of it as a service to all the girls he’ll date after you! (Or as ruining him for all the poor girls he’ll date after you! ^_- )
In some parts of the world, including, I believe, the Hebrew world, marriage age was three years and one day. Yes, they married girls off at the age of three. And consummated, too. Of course, this was ancient times.
Mohammad (yes, the prophet) was recorded (in the koran) to marry a 6 year old and she died in child-birth at 12 years old (also recorded in the koran).
No, this event is NOT recorded in the Quran. The Quran is mostly about the prophet… MOSES. Only four suwar (plural for “sura”) even mention Muhammad’s name (and one of them calls him by the variant Ahmad).
You are thinking of the Hadith and the Sira.
‘Aisha was the girl’s name; she didn’t die in childbirth but lived on, to lose a war against ‘Ali and then to go into retirement / exile / house-arrest. ‘Aisha is the source for a lot of the Hadith (although, as a politician and warrior, she may or may not have been telling the truth about her former relationship with Muhammad).
Oh, okay, now I see why one might think she was in high school.
What a pose. ;3
My philosophy; If ya got ’em then SHOW ’em!
…….. Not her breasts.
Good lord.
Because the number 18 is maaaagical. 😛
