You know… What Paul really SHOULD have done, is do a slightly different pattern on her shirts both days. Not enough for the eye to notice, but detectable once we checked back and looked for it (I know you did! Don’t lie!)
Just to screw with us in the same way Tina is screwing with Marci. ^_^
Both, I think. However…. I bet most people have experienced something along that line, like being *absolutely certain* that you put something in a certain place and have gone get to get that something later and find it somewhere else knowing that nobody has been around to move it?
Or something like what Tina said.
Maybe I’m just going mad in my old age :p
this happened to me just yesterday. just got my stomach meds refilled, but hadn’t been able to get my migraine meds, so I had an empty bottle and a full one. was getting ready to leave, put the empty bottle on my dresser to toss later and took a couple pills from the full one without looking before leaving it on my bed. left the room, decided I should take the bottle with me, and went back and got it off the bed…it was the empty bottle. for a different prescription. either I just switched universes, or I took the right pills out of the wrong bottle. I still had them in my hand…
I had a bag of apples in my refrigerator. A clear plastic bag. It had one apple in it. I went to get my last apple and there were two. Next day, I went to get my last apple, and there were two again. I said, “Hey! I have a bottomless bag of apples!” That jinxed it, and the next day there was only one.
In formal terms, it seems to be based on a Many Worlds quantum theory. The “individuals unknowingly switch between super-close universes” has a strong Worlds Of The Imperium flavor to it.
I wonder if Shelly’s artifact-sword was named Balingore? 🙂
Well, she IS referencing the Mandela Effect, i.e.: the moron phenomenon for the unobservant – as well as the paranoid conspiracy theorist. So I’m guessing YES, she is lying.
I’ve believed this for longer than I can remember. It explains how so many people can witness something and have experienced different versions of the truth.
Hmmm. So, our universe is the product of the interaction of the Higgs field (which gives us mass), gravity (which gives us weight), and the Rashamon field (which gives us what you said).
“Many worlds” is just physicists chickening out on the observed phenomena of randomness, entanglement, etc. See also, all the hand-wringing about black holes “destroying information”.
It’s not hard to keep straight, actually. Our universe had True Thomas (the rhymer, poet, and prophet). All of the other possible worlds, quantum-entangled with one other, simply had faux Toms.
Well, Tina once said to Monica to take anything she says with a grain of salt, so who knows.
Question … if you die in one universe, do you die in all universes? If not, then all those other “you’s” are actually different people who look like you and think like you. Not you, as such. For that matter, if one feels pain, do they all feel pain? Again, if not then they are not all the same person. They are separate individuals.
Of course, as a B&W strip, we can’t page back to check….
My thought exactly.
And what makes Castela so sure that Tina is messing with Luci?
Because Stela knows what colour blouse Luci was wearing when she came in (lavender polka-dots)
I looked anyway. >_<

…I went and called her “Marci” again, like the Peanut’s character she’s a homage to, didn’t I?
(sigh)
Tina… the Demon World’s most skilled puller of legs. Or, the most engaging teller of interesting truths. Or, both?
I think we’re about to find out that this is indeed a different Luci. Just ne that switched places awhile back.
Maybe I just didn’t get enough sleep, but I am laughing so damn hard at that last panel 😀

little of column a little of b. Little of C because object have a life of their own

I wish I knew which theory of the metaverse was in play here.

As I’ve mentioned before, this sort of thing always strikes me as a bit too familiar.
but is she lieing thats the question…

No, it’s just people are generally not that observant

Or… our memories are as bad as research suggests.
Wasn’t it established a while ago that making a joke like this with sufficient follow-through can actually change the universe to match?
It was hypothesized.
Tina isn’t normally so evil. Which demon is in charge this time?
That ain’t Evil, Thats just Wicked. heh heh heh.
↑This!↑
MAybe demons can recognize more than normal beings. Or is she pulling her leg? Mmm…
Then again, can we be absolutely certain that Tina is a demon? Maybe she’s actually a Troll…
😉
Tina kind of looks Like Dick Tracy with the square jaw…
I thought those were just continuity errors. Now ask Luci what happened to her tattoos…

That was disproved a few years back. Stephen Hawking congratulated the guy on winning their long-running argument.
Totally explains: http://wapsisquare.com/comic/good-thing/
Ah, the Chevalier Effect*.
*Read the Brightonomicon for a sketchy explanation.
Tina continues to be one of my favorite characters. For so many reasons. 🙂
The many-worlds theory gets my brain all entangled…
It’s not hard to keep straight, actually. Our universe had True Thomas (the rhymer, poet, and prophet). All of the other possible worlds, quantum-entangled with one other, simply had faux Toms.
this swiching universes thing should only be taken at ‘phase’ value *rimshot*

Certainly would explain ‘unexplained injuries’ or ‘phantom pain’ 😀
Come to think of it, Castela can smell when people are lying. Does that apply to covens of demons?
😕 Good question! 🤔
