Maybe Jin’s mom was able to reprogram the hair.

Or you know… she finally asked Jin to show her how she does it.

“Trying” to make her blush? Looks like she’s quite successful, from what I can see!

Is Kevin still doing the photography thing still? We haven’t really had a check in with him since they got together.

Well he seemed to be a successful professional photographer with a speciality in nature so it is likely he is still doing it.

Um, gonna nitpick here a little. It’s not Lake Bde Maka Ska, it’s just Bde Maka Ska. Bde is lake.

So what you’re saying is that this is like “Mount Fujiyama”? Tautology as landscape.

So Kevin and Bud have a little house together. Way to go. Is there gonna be a wedding?

So Bud became “rebound girl.” So many things happen in the background these days. No buildup or lead in Just blam, here it is. I do miss the old days and characters though. Back when the comic was a page turner every day and we could not wait for Monday’s installment. Now it’s all teen angst and high school hijinks.

The fact that Kevin and Bud have gotten together, was shown in-strip at least once (and I think twice) after Monica broke up with him. This is not the first time it was mentioned.

Bud and Kevin have been a couple since at LEAST 2015.

I tend to agree on the overall feeling of the comic though. There used to be a story that lasted more than a couple of days that you could get invested in. The art’s still great, the characters solid, I just miss a story arc that’s not simply teen sexual tension. Take the investigations and government coverup thread out of the X-Files and it’s just two people being awkward.

I’d chalk that up to Paul’s shoulder healing.

I don’t think you get the point. I for one miss the calendar machine days, learning about the golem, Monica and friends learning about themselves and what’s going on. The MIB, etc. AND there was awkward relationship fun mixed in but it wasn’t the story. It added spice. Now it feels a bit like there’s just spice and a shortage of meat to put it on. Purely a personal opinion. I still love the comic and tune in daily for my fix. I just hope something happens that brings them together united or even divided to focus the tale on.

I miss the main characters — or, rather, the people who used to be the main characters. Monica, Shelley, Amanda, Dietzel and friends — even the Golem Girls. Lately, the strip has been obsessed with Atsali (though when was the last time we saw her?), Catsela and their school friends. What began as a strip about urban life — with a little weirdness courtesy of the Aztec god of alcohol — segued into the golem/calendar machine saga, and now has become mostly a young teenage high school soap opera (with added paranormal elements), and I’m getting tired of it. In a way, Paul has become a victim of his own success: he’s told an entertaining story which has introduced many delightful characters, and now he’s got too many to keep track of. I just wish he’d focus on some of the others for a while; I have seen more than enough of Gryphon HS and its inmates for a while.

I came in midway through, after the calendar machine but before Shelly’s eighteen thousand years in the wilderness—I have no complaints. It’s gone here and there in delightful and amusing ways.

(I like to claim it’s gone downhill since strip number three—the first time something supernatural came up in the storyline.)

Lords forbid that characters actually grow up and the writer runs out of ideas for them so is forced to either fabricate crap for them or introduce new characters
This ain’t the damn Simpsons where every character is the same age (for those who are still alive) they were 30 damn years ago and any ‘growth’ gained in one episode is ignored for the next one

Forgive the late post…and other things.

I think they should write a song about Bud’s love of candles. No, not a song, a musical about candles. Bump it! Let’s go whole hog and make it a candle opera. 😀

    I’ll show myself out.
