That is a damnfine quality mask there.
Got no idea how that works but I assume it’s all part of the magictech that lets “normal” folks just see a regular person emoting there instead of what Valerie really is.
I’m 50 and all my friends are my wife’s friends. Mind you, they’re mostly burlesque folk and she’s pretty much their counsellor/bouncer so it’s a pretty high quality setup.
One wonders what form Valerie would adopt when swimming. Mask or no mask? Tentacles or no tentacles? What are the social conventions (if any) for swimsuit coverage of tentacles, facial or otherwise? Which fashion designers cater to the diverse swimsuit needs of the para community?
As for Digit: when she swims, does she breathe air like a human (as she was transformed) or does she still have some aspects of a spider’s respiratory system? (Dave hums a few bars of “Do You Believe In Spiracles?”)
(Hino is 41 years old as of last month.)
(Hino thinks about all the people he’d consider his “friends”.)
(Hino then discounts any old friend he hasn’t spoken to in over a year –in some cases, decade(s)– as well as people he meets on semi-regular basis at work or around his home with whom he is on *friendly terms*, but never does anything with outside of said work or home situations.)
(Hino very reluctantly discounts his one disabled patient/boss, whom he has a great relationship with, certainly considers a “friend”, but usually the other two relationships supersede the role of “friend”.)
(Hino has no more people left to count.)
(This has been a somewhat uncomfortable revelation for Hino, and leaves very little room to empathize with the fictional 29 year old with plans for her weekend. 🙁 )
(Hino acknowledges that this is in no way the fault/responsibility/obligation of the beloved webcomic creator; it just is what it is.)
I feel so much for Valerie right now.
Did the mask just blush and close it’s eyes?
Also Valerie needs hugs! Quick Digit! Deploy your other arms!

Digit is blushing too, that’s pretty good!

But if they’re dating, where does that leave Dietzel?
Digit and Valerie are both straight. No worries.
So they’re gonna share Dietzel then? Lucky dog!
Well, I thought Katherine was till she started dating Bryn.
All of the girls seemed straight, until they curved

I rather doubt Digit would breath thru her joints (as arachnids and insects do) while in ‘human form’.
As for Dietzel, I would suspect he’s rather beyond the things ‘younger folks’ do (He is a canine with a canine’s short lifespan… isn’t he?).
Aww, poor her. I do find it odd that she hasn’t attracted any friends though. She’s really nice and that should have done it if nothing else.
Valerie’s only 29? For some reason I thought she was older than that……..
Late bloomer…
Sheesh, Valerie! 29? I’ve got *socks* older than you…. XD
