Who/whatever is creeping around that house making weird noises (assuming it’s not just her imagination) is going to pay dearly for making her hurt her friend Reggie. I do NOT want to be anywhere near the blast zone when she catches them/it.
Not that I 100% disagree, but why wouldn’t Bud announce her presence when she saw how freaked out the Pickle was getting? The responsible thing for Bud, a mentor, to do would be to defuse the situation as soon as a very dangerous Para started arming and aiming a very destructive weapon at random noises.
Remember that Reginald first showed up in Canyon de Chelly, somewhere no baseline, mundane butterfly should have ever been. Since then he’s shown a remarkable tendency to show up places he shouldn’t be.
I’m not entirely sure Reginald was ever a normal, garden variety, Earth butterfly.
Define normal in this story universe… Lol an interesting twist would be a boyfriend who stays immortal by switching bodies and is currently stuck in the body of a 15 year old boy… Add phinx was a previous lover and it could get awkward fast… Lol
I meant “normal” as in “not in any way a benefit of Para or fae or any other magic or biology”
IE: “Normal” in the same way baseline, mundane, non-Para humans are normal in this universe.
Between showing up places he shouldn’t have been able to get into, and surviving being squished by a top-tier para, there’s no way Reggie is a regular Earth butterfly.
Familiars are common companions of paranormal entities and magical wielding humans. Going all the way back to Dietzel, Waspsi Square has had its share of unacknowledged familiars.
a) I imagine a walking, talking, thinking, magic-animated herb knows a fair amount about herbalism.
b) We really have no reason to assume she’s a witch or any other flavor of pagan.
c) I have no idea where gyrre is getting their info from, but 10 minutes spent talking to a variety of pagans wouldn’t be time wasted. That current line of crap is right out of the Malifacarum.
B reminds of a bit from Transformers Prime where Jack asks Arcee to help him with his small engibes homework, and she points out that just because he’s human doesn’t meanthat e knows how to make a small intestine.
As for c, I didn’t say witches strictly used pacts. Just pointing out that there are beIieved to be different types of magic. I had to google “Malifacarum”.
It is a curious fact, and one to which no-one knows quite how much importance to attach, that something like 85 percent of all known worlds in the Galaxy, be they primitive or highly advanced, have invented a drink called jynnan tonyx, or gee-N’N-T’N-ix, or jinond-o-nicks, or any one of a thousand variations on this phonetic theme.
Unless Reggie is some sort of immortal? Like a vampire, as long as there’s a spark of life, the body can heal from pretty much any injury?
On the shapeshifter angle, if Reggie saw the squish coming in time, he could have assumed some squishy form, like living goo, mold, or bacteria that could handle being squeezed like that.
Called it, though I was expecting him to be a bit more spongy.
Looks a bit like Wyle E. Coyote after the stunt. Resilient little guy, though.

Gunna call it… It’s Bud and Kath is the one who asked her to stay over since everyone else is out.

Unless, of course, it’s some sort of test.
Unless bud is playing a Terrific prank.
First Digit, then Reginald. Will this uplifting never cease?
No, nor should it.
Stinkweed _herself_ is a result of uplift. It’s a theme here.

I wonder how many hit points Reginald took?
All but the 1hp. Pretty standard boss fare I think.
He’s got waaaaay more than a butterfly shoud.
I think something going through Reggie’s mind is “Imma tank! Imma tank! Imma tank!” Thank you Oxhorn.
Thinking now that Reginald is a shapeshifter who is now regretting agreeing to this gig.
But who is he/she working for though. That would be the real question here.
MIB, Like Detziel
I’ve been suspecting that for some time now.
I wonder if it’s Nudge?
Reginald lives! ~<3
That brew doesn’t sound magical to me. Did she work over it? Does she do witchcraft? Or is it wishful thinking?
There’s more ways to work magic than witchcraft, and a few of them don’t even require pacts (and are thusly much more difficult).

Really wishing this had an ‘edit’ button.
‘Not all witches make pacts’ is what I meant to type.
My sleep cycle got knocked on its butt and turned on its head yesterday. I’m still recovering.
That sounds like it would taste like a gin and rootbeer.
She may be preparing a classic “Djinn and tonic” recipe… magic and healing, all in one glass.
-_-

go read Last call at the nightshade lounge… there are several Healing and restoratives tonics but usually involving tea and Coffee.
Even a shape shifter, she’s hulk smash strong, Reggie should be goo dripping betwixt her finger not slightly crumpled like we see here.

Not an uplift…a reset.
If that’s a shapeshifter we’ll see it’s true form.
The girl knows MOTH-ematics *rimshot*
😀
The beauty of a pun in in the “oy” of the beholder…
No vey.
Also whatever it was that scared her into mistakenly crushing her friend doesn’t seem to be scaring her right now.
She’s too worried about Reggie to have attention to spare for her nerves.
Apart from the pine needles, that drink sounds tasty, like licorice root beer.
Eh, pine needle tea isn’t that bad, and has a ridiculous amount of vitamin C!
Meaning that Royal Navy personnel might have been called leafys rather than limeys?
You’re thinking of the Norwegian Navy, in their nifty blue uniforms… always pining for the fjords.
I wonder if Pickle’s potion will be in the traditional globular red/transparent flask?
pretty sure the last panel is her holding a normal glass for reggie to sip from.
Pacts with demons? She knows people who are a pact of demons(a pack with a pact.) and at least one who terrifies demons.
