Ummm, about 2 seconds have passed between yesterday’s strip and today’s. Katherine didn’t walk around yelling for a week. As the parent of a similar aged kid, the number of things that can go off the rails in a month’s time are significant. Not telling a parent (with the background to handle it ) a nuclear grade issue like this? That’s leaving yourself without your best support team. And two strips ago, about a minute in Wapsi time, Castela was all bravado. Not easy to help through bravado. “Yes, I’m mad and scared and OF COURSE I’ll listen and hug.” exactly the right message. Parent on, Katherine.

Mom hugs. . . fast approaching the one year anniversary of my mom’s passing. Held her hand until the last breath left her body.

Wonder how much of Castela’s anquish was a 15 – 16 year old girl experiencing stuff she wasn’t expecting, and how much of it was a five to six year old that knows she has a very large extended family that really loves her, but is still in fear because she thinks she will be abandoned.
