I always take care of the spiders I meet. All winter long, when I find one, I place them on various house plants. Pretty much have no pest problems inside the house. In the summer, always take them outside to safe places.
Yeah … been known to talk to them. Never had one talk back. Yet. I look forward to that day, should it come. Especially if they are as smart & engaging as Digit.
I wish I could say that, while I wouldn’t leave a me shaped hole in the wall if a cute teenager told me she was a spider but the spiders we have here in FL are big, ugly and insanely fast. There’s so many hiding places in our house. If it crawls, except for lizards, snakes and frogs, it dies. I can ignore or wave off most critters outside but indoor is my sacred bug free domain.
Digit reminds me of Kassquit, a human (by species) woman raised by reptilian aliens in Harry Turtledove’s Worldwar and Colonization alternate history science fiction series, and particularly in “Homeward Bound” (the final book): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homeward_Bound_(Turtledove_novel)
Because the Lizards don’t use facial expressions to communicate emotions, Kassquit never learned how, and when she does start living with humans, she is handicapped this way.
to bad they can’t do a type of spell that would switch Digit from human to spider whenever she wants.that way she can be a adorable as her spider self.
Along with other comments here, I’d like to add:
Shelly might gain some benefit on YouTube…search for Lucas the Spider. Shelly’s phobia is a gut-level, emotional response…Lucas was designed right from the start to reach people on an emotional level by being cute & endearing.
If she’s typical of her species…
… we should be talking with spiders a lot more than we do.
I talk to them all the time, just don’t get much of an answer back…

If only Digit could smile…
… only time you see Digit’s teeth are when she’s hungry…

I mean, it sounds like if she could switch back, she’d rather stay a spider permanently. It is her natural state after all.
You are cute, Digit!
Can we call her Charlotte?
Please don’t. SPOILER:
Charlotte died.
She’s adorable.
Dang! Digit is turning out to be one of the wisest, if not smartest, in the whole WapsiVerse!!
Totally called it on Digit not knowing how to blink 😀
I’m not sure I could love her more than I do right now.
Had to google spider memes after reading this, so cute
