I wonder if that band-aid on her leg is an injury from yesterday’s boob-related mishap.

But she didn’t dodge all the bullets as her holey bra showed. How could the bullets penetrate the bra and not it’s contents?

Nice touch. An activity and event implied with but one single artifact.

I have three sisters. My wife has three sisters also. I learned a long time ago to not ask what those Band-Aids were for.

You know, this would be weird if it was not obvious that Dietzel is responding/reacting to what Monica is saying, and not just looking at her, like a typical dog would do.

    • SoWhyMe

Actually a typical dog would be looking (longingly staring) at the ice cream bar.

…or flavored with Baileys?? MMMMMMmmmm – a Good Humor Chocolate Eclair bar flavored with Baileys!! If it was in a dish, I’d suggest a scoop of french vanilla with a small pour of a good Irish whiskey sprinkled with a smattering of instant coffee crystals. A very nice calming dessert or treat, which I’m thinking Mon needs.

First time posting here (tho I’m not new to WS). Not sure if my gravatar will follow me. Today’s panels made me head for the freezer. Good thing I bought ice cream yesterday. Can’t wait to see what next big thing is on its way. I agree with Monica. “Adventure” doesn’t quite cut it. “Mystery” is a little too Scooby Doo. But I do like “Next Big Thing.” (As always, love the attention to detail: bites out of the ice cream bar; the Band-aid!)

Given how things usually work out — ‘Misadventures’ is probably the correct term.

What the hell is wrong with Monica? I think it’s extremely weird that Monica seems to be expecting a new adventure and isn’t even thinking about the one that was recently dumped in her lap. What was her scream about if Jin being broken wasn’t a ‘big thing’ for her? It’s as if Tina and Bud made no impression on her or she has already solved that problem. This is just bizarre!

Is Monica crazy or very self-delusional? I don’t think Paul would make Monica actually crazy, but that’s about the only possible explanation for this page. In any case, this sure makes Monica’s character look bad.

Welcome Suze! (I don’t think I got the confirmation email to set an avatar.)

She’s referring to all the stuff that’s going to come with trying to help Jin. Jin may be the big picture but M knows there are going to be all sorts of crap going on during the journey to help Jin. =)

    • Marchbanks
      March 17, 2010, 6:56 pm | # | Reply

No, I’d say it’s more the Rincewind effect. M just had an “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” epiphany, and is acknowledging that from here forward, this is probably going to be how her life works, so she may as well try having a more positive attitude and some fun while she’s on the journey.

It can be very freeing to quit fighting rear-guard actions, and accept that the status quo is what the new normal will be . . . until someone/thing goes and changes normal again (builds a glass clock, a new calendar machine, or some other damfool thing).

Couple thoughts to share about this… I started reading the comic back when it was more involved with non-earth shattering events. I like the adventure aspect, but I was hoping that things would return to “normal” before (or if ever) the next adventure began. Story-wise this talk of further dangerous activity as though it were inevitable seems pretty quick. Can’t she have a break? Can’t she spend some time with Kevin?

And speaking of Kevin, where is he? Monica’s been sharing serious thoughts with just about everyone else important in her life except Kevin… why? Is she communicating with him “off screen” or inbetween the daily strips? Does he notice and comment on her recent emotional state?

Her next adventure should be Kevin trying to get her to start exercising again! 🙂 Her diet hasn’t seemed to improve much since back then, I wonder if ‘Poiting’ counts as exercise and could help M with her cholesterol lol
