Very good point. For me, the same line explains why spoilers do bother me. Knowing the ending can make the journey much less exciting because there aren’t any surprises.
spoilers are a mixed bag in my opinion. I am far to curious to ever leave them be and nine times out of ten they don’t make me mad or don’t actually make it worse for me but if I can get there myself it is also fun.
As has been suggested before, people who don’t want spoilers should simply skip these comments.
Looking at the dates of the comments, ALL of us are on the second (or third…) time through. And we are still re-reading this strip even though no surprises are left.
Just like we spend time with old friends even though we already know what they are about.
Putting details of the future plot into the comments (spoilers) allows one to indulge their free association and advertise the fact they been through story. It can detract from the entertainment of first timers. Without commenting on how that balances out, saying do not read the comments is being a troll IMHO.
First timer here. Comments that explain references I would not otherwise understand enrich my experience.
Comments like ‘this is important’ are helpful. They help me to form my own conclusions with less confusion
from irrelevant detail. ‘The butler did it’ … first up against the wall…
I like how it was done with forest gump. Where you started almost at the destination, and were told about the journey that you missed up to that point.
Spoiler don’t bother me because I often know the destination before I learn it, and sometimes remember parts of the story before I read/see them. Too bad I can’t figure out how to do that on demand…
This is the line I give when I explain to people why spoilers don’t bother me.

Spoilers aren’t always about the destination. Sometimes they ARE about the journey.

Knowing what I do about Phix, these comics are extra sweet
