One of the snarky responses at my college was “Is that an offer?”

Someone who did that to me? My answer depended on whether or not I liked them…Your response if I did, “Not in your wildest erotic dreams” if I didn’t.

Castela is getting to be quite the hardbody! If I was a boy at Gryphon, I would be oscillating amongst attraction, lust, and fear

Normal onset Teenager. Severity will vary by individual and time. Symptoms usually last 10 years. There is no know cure. Attempts at invasive interventions may exacerbate and prolong the condition. Best to monitor the patient and perform minor subversive corrective measures where needed.

Do not let the patient fool you with cogent discourse and apparent self-knowledge. This is not a sign of remission. Teenager remains virulent and will flare throughout its course.

Normal onset teenager… coupled with the fact that when she thinks she’s indestructible, she’s pretty much right.

Has Castela ever tested how damage resistant she is? Clearly her own vaporization ray doesn’t hurt her. Maybe she needs Bud to hug her “until it starts to hurt.”

Well, she’s a teenager. And this isn’t the first bit of rebellion we’ve seen from her.

The thing that surprises me — though it’s sorta necessary for plot purposes — is that she’s apparently experiencing puberty in a human-like way. Not what I would normally expect from a sapient plant. Side effect of accurate shapechange? Or it may just be accidental that neural pruning/restructuring takes place at approximately the same mass and age. Or this universe’s God’s have the same sense of humor that ours do.

I thought she was some kind of hybrid so there might be human DNA mixed in there somewhere.

I suspect her animal DNA came from Leucoisa, after some of the siren bits were removed.

I sometimes wonder if Leucoisa had been contemplating mapping the para geneset.

We’re pretty sure Castela isn’t just based on Plant material, she’s a Hybrid for sure, and speculation abounds as to what the ‘other stuff’ is…

Let’s see, back when she was entering kindergarten one of the few words she pronounced correctly all the time was “Bullshit.”
I don’t think the attitude is all that new.

In my day it would have been off to the wood shed. But in this case I fear the wood shed would burn to the ground.

Well we saw Top Gun. Once. back in 1985 or whenever it was released. It’s not like it was a good movie. I think the story had something to do with pilots, but I can’t remember anything else about it.

first time I saw the movie, I had been out of the navy about 12 years.

I had spent some of my enlistment on the USS Independence (CV-62) and had gotten quite knowledgeable about flight ops/ flying.

I laughed so hard at many of the things that were obviously ‘artistic license’.

One scene, I had to actually step out of the room because of all the “wrong” things.
it was the scene where Mav and Goose had to eject from a ‘flat spin’.

Castela is (or should a pred in Gryphon’s paranormal classification system), and many of her role models (M and Shelly most notably) are sociopaths, or recovering sociopaths. Castela recently suffered a major Angst-induced awakening (Timothy and Scarlet). And you expect her not to be rebellious?

I’ve got a T-shirt with that gesture on it. Come to think of it, I bought it in Minneapolis. (Mall of America, actually.)

Back in the 60’s the family was making crafts including tie-dye and cold-water candle making. One of the treasured memories of this period is my oldest brother, after getting it cleared from the Grown-ups mind you, silk-screened up a t-shirt w/ the Planters Peanut mascot, standing w/ aplomb,

and giving everybody the Finger… P

I got mine ostensibly to wear on my last day of work. That was yesterday—yes, I retired yesterday—I chickened out and wore a regular shirt. I did wear it to a union local meeting, though.

Over on the iPad, I just got to ‘Monica’s Sports Bra’ in my current archive crawl, and I got to thinking, “Why isn’t Lydia making costumes for Paras (think ‘E’)?” And then I thought, “Maybe she is, now?” The way Castela is holding her right arm, it’s hard to tell how much support she’s getting, but at least there’s no cape!

How many shirts and/or blouses and/or tops have Atsali and Shelly gone through, or mermaid swimsuits (Jessie), or boots (Pickle)? The demand is there! And if Lydia can’t meet the supply, someone will (probably subsidized by MIB)!

Lydia did make bras for Atsali. Monica gave her a gift card.

Y’know…given the location as Monica’s island…you’ve gotta wonder just who Castela is giving The Finger to…

A passing ship, maybe. The Bermuda Triangle gets a lot of traffic. That’s why it has so many wrecks.

Castela does look like she’s about to roast someone’s peanuts, doesn’t she?

My guess would be fate/life/a passing cloud…

“A cloud passing thru the Bermuda Triangle received burns over 80% of its convection cells from a category 5 teenage girl, resulting in massive dehydration. A transfusion from the local cloud bank was required. The White Cross is asking for donations. Type H2O is in particularly short supply!”

Well, over on eBay, Paul had a Castela (the Storm) @ 16 picture and when asked he mentioned the _picture_ itself represented the future Castela, but that she was still around 12-13 years old.

I’m thinking, since the Tumbleweed can change shape, she’s able to (and during Island-time, might be subconsciously) emulate the gals around her, body wise.
