That’s is a “Pffft!, well of Course I’ll be taking over your company, we just need to help Nadette figure out what she wants to do…” type sarcastic reply…
Not really that curious. Some people just aren’t the type to speak up to their loved ones out of either a fear of disappointing them or a general desire to avoid potential conflict with the people they care about.
AHA! So, as was suggested yesterday, Ms. Alger and Mom are in cahoots to make sure Nadette actually considers her future instead of just “Welp, I guess I’m taking over Mom’s business, because that’s what Mom wants.”
Maybe Bernie can take over and Nadette does…….whatever. I hope she finds something she’s genuinely interested in, (Besides Atsali 😛 ) and uses her family’s wealth to pursue that to its fullest extent.
Hell, she might just decide she’s interested in something that mashes with the family business, like architecture, or diesel mechanics, (she could head up maintenance on the company’s equipment), or whatever.
Am I the only one who never had to fill out a career plan in high school? (which is probably a good thing, I still haven’t the foggiest of what I want to be when I grow up)
Career placement tests were fun for me.
when I entered the US navy, turned out I surpassed 96% of the people taking the entrance exams that decade.
and had the best scores of ALL the people on the carrier I was assigned to (that was OVER 7200 people… including 1200+ college grads).
After my enlistment, I took ‘aptitude tests’ and sent the counselors in the V.A. into a tizzy with my results.
(‘highly qualified’ in 50 out of 54 job categories).
Too much thinkin’ a buzz’n here. Nadette thinks she’s being primed to take the reigns of mom’s business… but daughter #1, Bernadette, is responding to mom as though she hadn’t even been considered as potential future owner. I don’t see why they BOTH can’t take the reigns, one as president and the other as CEO.
Note: Daughters are Berdine (in this page) and Nadette (dates Atsali). No Bernadette.
Note 2: “Reigns” is what a monarch does. “Reins” are used to control an animal – or, figuratively, other things. “Rains” come down from the sky and make things wet.
From the previous day’s panels, Ms. Alger’s words and actions were designed. Passive aggressive has an unconscious aspect to it. Ms. Alger was
not being passive aggressive.
So, which one of the twins takes over for Mama?
Stay tuned…
So is that a “Yes I want to take over the company” or a “No, I don’t want to take over the company.” ?
That’s is a “Pffft!, well of Course I’ll be taking over your company, we just need to help Nadette figure out what she wants to do…” type sarcastic reply…
That’s a “yeah, if I didn’t want it, you’d know”. So, nadette has issues speaking up to mom. Curious.

Heh, it may be great to be the big boss of a multimillion company, BUT…
Its all work and very little play..
That is a “If I didn’t, you’d have heard about it loudly before now.”
That’s a “Yes, by God, I’d tell you. Do you doubt it?”
I like the way mom is dressed. She’s a businesswoman, and she’s large and in charge.
…*comfuzed*… o!O
If they don’t wanna, you can’t make ’em. Besides, if they don’t wanna and you do, they might run it into the ground right away…
Well, that’s the Starr Sisters for you… Bernie’s brazen, and Nadie’s craven; what can you do? (Ironic that my Uncle ALSO owns a construction company…)
How is that ironic?
Isn’t Nadette able to see the future or am I misremembering something?
I think it doesn’t work when she’s emotionally involved, which is why she can’t read Atsali’s future with any accuracy.
I think you’re right about that. 🙂 And I think it’s also safe to assume she’s emotionally involved in this situation.
She can’t see her own future.

High school, hell. I remember taking career placement tests as early as fourth grade. (I don’t think they were ENTIRELY serious?)
LoL.
Career placement tests were fun for me.

lots of fun.
Did that allow you to get out of mopping the floors?

Sounds like Bernadette is way more interested in that idea than Nadette is, even if Nadette hasn’t admitted that to herself yet……..

Is this the FIRST time we’ve seen ^either^ of Berdine/Nadette’s parents?!
😕
I think so. I believe it was Bernadine was there in the ER when the two youngest spooked the two older o es during a sleepover horror movie.
