I still don’t get it. What’s wrong with being aware your ancestors sleeping with people? I know people who get all upset when they think their parents might have slept together.
Firstly, it’s a good thing they did or no one would get born.
Secondly, it’s sweet, she got a boyfriend for a bit. They might have been happy together, and I hope they were.
Yes, but she is mad because Jin slept with her G’Pa, and isn’t her G’Ma (taking liberties since I know that isn’t what she calles her, but I don’t speak spanish)
That’s a very healthy and modern attitude toward relationships, thisfox. We have seen that Monica is not very open to polyamory, and there could be any number of reasons for that.
However, M’s relationship with her G’pa was one very special bright spot in her otherwise distressed childhood. His adventures plainly inspired her choice of career, but more importantly, it was a part of life that was expressly hers: No one would could ever take the cherished memories of her hero grandfather from her.
And now she’s learned Jin is all up in that, too. That there was sexytime just makes M’s emotions that much more raw.
If I were a demon, I’d play this moment for all it was worth…
I think her worry isn’t necessarily that her grandfather was in a relationship with someone other than her mother. She was very casual about the fact that he got around pretty well on his adventures up until she realized that particular girl of the week was Jin. Her fear and anger comes from the assumption that Jin was in some way screwing with her life 50 years before she was even born.
I don’t know for sure but part of it could be that while Jin has been around for multiple thousands of years, she looks and acts Monica’s age. Imagine finding out that your best friend from college had been sexually involved with one of your grandparents.
I mean there are many potential quickly issues beyond the whole ancestors having sex.
Neg, that can be used as a term of endearment. I know many families, including my own where razzing each other a bit is a sign of affection. Despite that, it’s clear that Monica loves her G’Pa a ton.

The problem is that M has her grandfather way up on a pedestal and does NOT want to know that he was human after all.
A pedestal? I believe the exact words she used to describe him were: “cantankerous fart”.

I think Monica feels secure, safe and somewhat in control with Bud and Brandi. She feels more fear of Jin which is affecting her feelings.
