Not if she can’t see it in a mirror, no.
Sometimes she can notice them sprouting if she’s expecting them to, but many other times, she’s been too distracted to realize they’re there.
(Her entire head turning into a flower was obviously an exception. Not really possible to miss that she needed to turn her head back into a face.)
The problem with aggressively confronting your friends’ issues is that you lose a lot of friends.
Having a reputation for loudly and publicly embarrassing your friends doesn’t help either.
I’m sure she thinks so.
I’m also sure Daylla will be quite surprised at the number of friends who no longer consider her THEIR friend in her lifetime.
There is a thick line between aggressive help and abuse. Castela is not a drug addict, and she does not need a full court press intervention by her friends. Not a single person sat down with Cas, hugged her and tried to put themselves in her shoes while they talked. Instead they have all had a lot of fun at her expense and tried to force her to see things their way. That doesn’t work in real life.
I doubt that my interpretation is the one intended in the script; this is a comic.
In real life this crap LOSES you friends.
Many people actually need real time and a lot of thought to come to terms with changes in their life and how they feel, and Castella’s so-called friends are denying her that time and humiliating her to boot. Friends have empathy, and I honestly don’t see a lot of it here.
Of course they are teenagers, so they don’t know better. But most of us should.
I have to agree here. Quiet frankly, her friends are being over all fairly rude. Daylla in particular. If they all suspect this crush and have mostly confirmed the prior one, they should consider that a more gentle approach may be needed. Again they are teenagers who are quiet often fed information on how love life should work by rom coms and anime…
Anycase, I hope SOMEONE sits down with her and talks to her. Helps her sort thought why this young man not being the butterfly bothers her so much. I also kinda hope her new mentor goes up to mom and the others to call out the folks that basically are making fun of hero teach her.
Stela is like her sister: can’t see what is right in front of her even with a 2×4 between the eyes
You believe Stela only ‘blossoms’ when her friends mention his name? She does that at every mention of him, worse if he is there in person
Shelly arrange for Stela to spend time with Jaci for this reason, her friends had been patient with her for quite some time now, and she hadn’t been working it out in her own time because she had no damn clue why she was reacting this way, now she does, and now she can start working out how she feels about those feelings
Note how she’s no longer blushing in the last panel
“Also, your whole head turning into a rose was funny as hell”
Do you think she knows she still has a flower growing out of her ponytail?
I’d wager that’s a ‘no’ or a ‘not yet’.
I’m guessing that’s where she tucked the flower that encompassed her whole head.

I was wondering when Daylla would flat out say it.
“I’m forcing a stubborn bull-headed doofus notice all that she’s trying hard to ignore.”
Shouldn’t that be something like “…doofus to notice…” ?
Aye.
doofus, notice is also grammatically correct. the to is actually superfluous in this case.
“to notice” is the more common usage, and Pablo had updated the strip to say it that way within an hour or so of its original posting.
Oh, Castela is really gonna need yoga now…
some times you have to be direct with your lessons. ~<3
This was the verbal equivalent to a mule driver picking up a piece of 2-by-4 and saying “Sometimes, you just have to get their attention.”
Had a friend who called that “using the choke.”

Depends on who the friends are, also just how ‘public’ this is, it’s possible Day only did it because she knew the only other person there was Scar
Daylla’s a good friendo. 😀
One of the best, and CasDay makes a cuter couple 😀
I’m sure she thinks so.

Daylla seems to me to be closer to ‘sibling from another mother’ than just a friend it takes betrayal on a higher scale to break that sort of bond.
They’ve been friends since before either of them knew the concept.

Good point! I had missed that detail the first time through…
I…I…I…I…THE I’s HAVE IT!
Daylla is spending an awful lot of time working on this. Maybe she needs a boyfriend, too…
[Tried to post last night, something kept saying I’d already done it.]
This isn’t “helping” Daylla, this is being a jerk to your friend.
Same thing with Scarlet’s behavior.
You must not have had the right sort of friends, or been in the right sort of situations
